Two events you don't want to miss next Sunday Sept 8th.

In the morning, the man the legend: Ray Hyman will be in Portland to give a demonstration and lecture on critical thinking. Ray Hyman, along with James Randi, Martin Gardner, and Paul Kurtz started the modern skeptical movement. Do you really want to look back and say you had the chance to meet him but you slept in instead? Plus there will be Food, Drinks, and Childcare.

Sunday @ 11 AM

Later that day, the singer songwriter Shelley Segal of Youtube and Reason Rally fame will be playing a concert. Save money with advanced tickets. Details here:
Sunday @ 7 PM

There are three shows this weekend: Fri@7pm, Sat@2pm, Sat@7pm. Tickets are $18 at the door, but there are discounts for seniors, students, and online pre-orders. Kids under 6 are FREE.

More Info at www.darktolight.org
Hope to see all of you there!

Atheists in Portland... Yep. Lots. Here's the ones I help run. We have about ~250 people right now in CFI-Portland:
¤Secular Humanists of East Portland (CFI East Portland = movies)
¤Beaverton Atheists (CFI West Portland = monthly social)
¤Center For Inquiry Portland (discussion groups, book group, speaker events like Richard Dawkins, critical thinking course, local activism, potlucks, movies, debates with christians, 2-day secular film festival, campouts, and we're adding more all the time)
¤Secular Parenting Meetup (CFI for parents/kids)

I'm all for meeting other atheists for a beer or some such. I'm always up for intelligent conversation, or at least interesting =)

There is another one that meets twice a month on Wednesday. It's called Secular Humanists of East Portland. You should be able to find the details on meetup.com.
