It's a bogus argument through and through, unabashedly based on the biblical injunction against homosexuality. The bible validates their primitive, hateful homophobia--in exactly the same way it used to validate the convictions of the slaveholders before the Civil War.

Surely opposing someone's appointment to judicial office on an overtly religious premise is unconstitutional?

Well, if the appointment were to be denied on those grounds, such a case could surely be made. But any group can oppose someone's selection on any grounds it pleases.

Tell Congress: Protect my personal information. Update digital priv...

This week, the ACLU, along with a coalition of privacy groups and companies like Google and AT&T announced a partnership to modernize ECPA. But we need your help.

The more we do online, the more digital footprints we leave behind. Our online activities - searches, purchases, mobile phone usage, and even this email - may not have the same protections as paper documents we store in our home.

It's high time Congress protect our personal information from being used and abused by a spying government.

The threat is real: Sprint, for example, received 8 million demands for mobile location data in just a little over a year. In the absence of good electronic privacy law, government agencies--from the NSA to local police departments--are going on surveillance shopping sprees for our data.

Congress needs to update the Electronic Communications Privacy Act to:
▪ Protect your Personal Information and Online Activities
▪ Safeguard Your Mobile Location Information
▪ Make Companies Tell You When They Hand Over Your Information
▪ Stop Law Enforcement from Using Illegally Obtained Data

Torture Accountability

Tell Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to conduct a criminal investigation of Jay Bybee, John Yoo, and Steven Bradbury, the legal architects of the Bush administration's torture policies.

As the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel under President George W. Bush, Jay Bybee tried to bend the law to justify the administration's torture policies. Had the recently-released Bush-era torture memos been disclosed when Jay Bybee was nominated by the former president for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, he probably would not have been confirmed by the Senate. We agree with the New York Times: "Mr. Bybee is unfit for a job that requires legal judgment and a respect for the Constitution.
Congress should impeach him.

Justice has been on vacation for eight long years. It needs to be restored. That means restoring checks and balances, accountability, transparency and the rule of law -- some of our most fundamental constitutional values that have been stepped on and undermined by the previous administration. People For has a new Campaign to Restore Justice and a three-point petition to congressional leaders.

If the U.S. Doesn't do it The Spanish Court Will.

Our combatants and non-combatants such as, our Servicemen, Embassy staff, State Department employees, the Red Cross, U.S.A.I.D., Peace-Corps volunteers may suffer for a long time because of the previous definition of torture.

It is time to reform the Patriot Act!

I think it should be repealed.

You can reach your congress critters by calling 1-202-224-3121, and asking for their offices by name.
