For all of you who love astrophysicist Dr. Tyson. I, personally, think that Neil's talks are like stand-up comedy. Only better.
He is the Carl Sagan of our generation. A true pioneer of science.

Comment by Mabel on May 27, 2012 at 12:00pm Mabel, while he makes good points, I'm so anti-theistic that I just don't care how liberal or accepting a theist is, as long as they are theists, I consider them still a part of the problem.
Comment by Mabel on May 9, 2012 at 11:05am Dr. deGrasse Tyson put this video on his Facebook yesterday and said he felt compelled to share it because of his father's active history with the Civil Rights Movement.
The Erosion of Progress by Religions
I don't agree with his analogy to being a non-golf player. Golfers are not the same thing as theists. Golfers do not proselytize. They do not accuse footballers of being inauthentic sportsmen. They don't seek legislation that favors them at the expense of others. They aren't bigots. That's just not the same thing. Very weak analogy, and i'm very disappointed in his response there.
Also, I don't personally feel that I need to engage or listen to theists (or conservatives for that fact). I see no need to explore their ideas and values, as I know enough already to see that they are all ideological Pez dispensers. There's nothing new to learn. No suprises. All they do is regurgitate the same old theories, assumptions, conspiracies, justifications, and prejudices.

Podcast: Space Chronicles; Neil DeGrasse Tyson
NASA has been sending Americans into space for half a century. But now that proud chapter is history. With the end of the space shuttle program, we have no way of launching astronauts in an American spacecraft from American soil for at least a decade, and maybe longer.
Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson has big problems with that and he writes about them in his new book Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City and he recently spoke to Living on Earth’s Steve Curwood about space exploration, science education, and the role of discovery.
Comment by Rocky Oliver (LotusGeek) on February 12, 2012 at 12:50pm He is my favorite astrophysicist of all time. I've had the pleasure of seeing him speak twice at a conference where I speak as well, called Lotusphere. I also got to shake his hand :)
He is amazing, so articulate, and a fantastic mind who has the rare gift of being able to explain complex ideas in a way that (most) everyone understands.
