I am a new atheist, been in the Army for 13 years, just found this site hoping to meet up with some new like-minded friends.

They told me it was optional to say the last part. I didn't say it and didn't get any weird looks or anything. Same thing with prayers in ceremonies. I choose not to bow my head. I don't get any flak for that either. If anyone would say anything, there is always freedom of religion. When I came in, my first set of dog tags said Christian nondenomination. I got a second set later and they put "No Preference". I just now finally got a pair that says "Atheist".
On my own note: they have prayer breakfasts but no free thinker breakfasts. How would I start one of those?

I was in the Oregon National Guard for 13 years and I am now trying to reenlist. I am applying for OCS and in three months I hope to be taking the oath. Have they changed the oath yet or is it still the same. I know they will put Atheist on your dog tags now.

  I’m really ticked off now…..BIG TIME!

Last night I expected all the “rapture”  yahoo’s to be gone.  All I expected to find was a bunch

of clothes, empty house, apartments, mobile homes and the like.  Cars just left on the street with the keys in them.

I had planned to go out looting. I was gonna clean up with the cash they left behind, their valuables, jewels, precious metals, silverware, electronics and the such.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I even had a SHOPPING LIST!

And I had a list of things my friends wanted…..  Of course, there were some prescription meds certain friends wanted me to get for them…. And some things that weren’t prescription as well….

It only goes to show you, you can’t trust these “rapture” clowns….

Sigh……..back to clipping coupons….

I wonder if there were any people who had been in foxholes who would say there where no atheists in foxholes.  The only people who I hear saying this are dingbats who were never in the military.  Everyone in my squadron knew I was an atheist even though we didn’t have any foxholes.  USAF 1963-1967.  I don’t require any accolades because I think the only wars we, the US, should have been fighting were defensive wars and the last one of those was the War of 1812.

USAF 06-10 Hated religious overtones in Power Point presentations and abhorred the multiple religion obsessed commanders.

Hello all. Finally decided to get my butt in here. US Army 82-86, Reserves 87-91. "No Preference" on my dog tags as well. No preference my ass.
