Hello everybody. Just moved to Florida for the summer, but I'll be starting my second year at Michigan Technological University in the fall. I grew up in Manistee, a small town on Lake Michigan with too many churches. I was maby like one of three atheists in the whole town.

Hello, Michigan! A Livonia boy here, stuck in Arkansas for the moment. But it's good to see I'll have a group to come home to when I get back. I guess I'll see you guys when I get there.

Thanks for filling us in on MA and DAM Apple :)

Like Apple said, DAM's Calendar tracks events for all these local groups -> http://www.meetup.com/Detroit-Atheists/

CFI is Center for Inquiry. CFI Michigan Southeast events are on the CFI MI page ->http://www.cfimichigan.org/ and on DAM's Calendar.

GAP is the Grassroots Atheism Project. The original site crashed but you can go here -> http://tinyurl.com/ya9t6ro in the meantime to get the flavor of the Project.

TBT is The Birmingham Temple -> http://www.birminghamtemple.org/, our local Secular Humanistic Jewish organization.

HABS is Heretics Anonymous Bible Study Meetup-> http://biblestudy.meetup.com/385/calendar/12066552/

GLA is Gay/Lesbian Atheists Meeup -> http://www.meetup.com/Gay-Lesbian-Atheist/

Hi Ruthe. I'm not active in all of the groups that Ruthe mentioned, but I know some of them. MA is Michigan Atheists. DAM is Detroit Atheist Meetup. Information for some of these groups can be found on meetup.com. Here's the link for DAM's meetup page.

I'm relatively new here. I got here through A reddit link. I reside in Richmond, MI (Macomb County).

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be in Michigan. Much of what this country is about, including the religious crap, is driving me out (currently leading the pack is Montevideo, Uruguay).

I would rather observe the coming crash of "American Exceptionalism" from afar.
