You can make these seed bombs yourself; all you need are the seeds and some clay rich soil. Great project for kids. One of the commercial makers of these seed bombs employs mentally challenged people to make them. Very cool.

Greenaid takes old gumball machines, rehabs them and turns them into “seedbomb” dispensers. The seedbombs are made from clay, compost and seeds and are perfect for the cracks, crevices and empty spaces found in daily life. They can be temporarily placed in sidewalk cracks, empty planters and in missing concrete pieces from parking lots.

This seems like a very clever and very green way to mow one's lawn... Since I just rented a house with a particularly large backyard, one of these devices is exactly what I need....

Ive seen this done, spray seeding is a great way to reinforce the earth embankment's along the highway after civil construction crew's have cut into hill's or whatever, though the result's aren't as spectacular as the vertical garden below.

Bringing a Bridge to Life

The fingers of foliage on this bridge in the south of France are layers of mosses, vines, ferns, and other vegetation devised by Patrick Blanc, a globe-trotting tropical botanist based at the French National Center for Scientific Research.

Blanc has explored remote terrain from Thailand to the Andes to gain deeper knowledge of tropical flora, both to serve a career as a research scientist and, since the mid-eighties, to inform the techniques of his vertical gardens.

Urban Abundance

Also called "farmscrapers," vertical farms could make cities self-sustainable. A 30-story vertical farm the size of one Manhattan city block could theoretically provide food year-round to 50,000 people.

By mid-century, 80 percent of the world's population is expected to reside in urban centers. Properly situated, vertical farms could eliminate the need for long-distance crop transport and refrigeration, reducing fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions. They'd even scrub CO2 from city skies, giving us a much-needed breath of fresh air.

A segment from the DVD entitled "Symphony of Magic: The Wild Orchids in Israel". If you like Timelapse and Orchids, this fascinating film shows in amazing detail how the Bee Orchid lures its lovers to do its bidding. Produced by nature cinematographer Doron Hirshberg, the documentary was originally broadcast on the BBC in 1987. Not satisfied, Doron spent another three years shooting more footage to include these scenes about the actual pollination process. When finally ready to re-edit all the films in 2007, Doron flew from Israel to CinePost in Atlanta in order to produce a scratch and dirt-free Telecine Transfer for the new digital masters. Digital editing was completed in late 2007. Duna Televizio (Hungary) will be broadcasting the Restored Master this Winter. The Digital Masters are now ready for any venue with English narration and a stereo M&E track, in either PAL and/or NTSC. Total running time is 60 minutes. Adriana, My yellow pear tomato has only been ripening fruit for about the last 2 weeks, since the last week in May. I planted these in early April, so its been about 60 days, from a 4 inch stater plant. This is Dallas, where its already very hot, 95+ every day. My upside down Atkinson is only just flowering a little, but it got a late start, and I don't think it likes the upside down bit, I guess because the light has a bit of trouble getting to it, as it peaks around from the bottom of the pot.


Orange, If you every find yourself with too much choy or cabbage, make kim chee. Its easy, quick(about a week), keeps months, is great on sammys, and you make it to your own taste of heat and spice(ginger/garlic).

Just had one two week's ago, doc told me I was all good.

Dead middle of winter here, thing's are moving pretty slow right now, I planted plenty of bok choy this winter, yummy, I love vege stir-fry, by far better than any cabbage well imop anyhow.

Had ago at growing black tomato's last summer, bug's hammered them but we managed to get enough outa them for ourselves, also I was impressed by the size of them, larger than fist size tomato's, I'll do better next summer :)
