How many Linux distros have you tried, which one is your favorite and why?

1) I lost count.

2) Mint: Because it is Ubuntu without the stupid windows-like attempt at coupling the DE with elementary functions of the distribution (i.e., Network Manager, Unity being thrown all over the place just because!). And the fact that it is not thriving to fulfill some windows-fantasy of an EYE-TEE user. Other than that, I'm mainly Debian-based biased. Though Fedora is perhaps my only exception from the RPM world.

Mint Debian's repositories are a little behind regular mint's. It's just Debian Unstable with a different skin.

When i had the time i used to try every distro i could get my hand on. Right now on Kubuntu, Mint's KDE is not as refined, Debian's packages are too outdated but i miss the robustness, Fedora is too annoying i have to spent a lot downloading the programs for decent use, i want to try openSUSE but i can't get it to live boot. So Kubuntu it is.

I love Puppy Linux, that is by far my favorite.

I use Debian 7.1 Wheezy, with Gnome 3.4.2 and Linux Kernel 3.10-0

Feodra with XFCE.

Because:

  • It boots fast
  • Easy to install and use
  • I can easy move between CentOS, RedHat and Fedora
  • It is just blue and nice, I want to cuddle with it
