Countless women beg in order to eke out a meager living in Kabul, says Stanmeyer. "During the Taliban all women lost their jobs," he points out, "and many women lost their husbands to decades of war."

A salesman shows a veiled client a new burka inside his store in Kabul. The fabric comes from S. Korea, but the Burkas are actually assembled in Afghanistan. They cost around $15 (U.S.) for a new one.

I think what bothers me the most about things like this is that religion is protected as a right by a majority of the powerful people in the world. People just hide their atrocities behind this blanket term of religion and all everyone can do, apparently, is turn a blind eye and shrug. Why aren't more people opening their eyes and mouths about stuff like this? This is not okay. I'm reminded of every Hitchens video I've ever seen where he damagingly slates religious atrocities and religious apologists. I would like to think that humanity is heading towards a period of secular humanism and enlightenment (a questionable term to use considering the actual Enlightenment period, I know), but when I see things like this it's as though all the evolutionary throwbacks are joining together to eradicate all non-religious, non-male, non-misogynistic, non-heterosexual, questioning people.

The video about `Sharia law` does make me wonder how a religion can allow this barbarous draconian behaviour? Where is their humanity? are they completely unfeeling? let the punishment fit the crime.
It also reminds me of how little, we as a species have really evolved since we were first able to walk, still violent, still barbaric, men still trying to impose their dominance in society, still believing in stories of the past, despite the overwhelming evidence against them. We have a long way to go.

It was recommended to me that I post this in this group. It's a video about Sharia law practiced on women in Islam, and it's really shocking. It's a poem narrated to a slideshow of pictures which are
Not For Sensitive Viewers.
I have also just posted a blog about this:
Why All Carbon-Based Bipeds Should be Anti-Theistic Atheists.

I hope you all find the video as shocking and moving as I did.

Uh, a painful divorce is worse that rape? Lol. Can we forcibly sodomize him and then ask him to reevaluate him statement?

Wow!!! That's probably the most ignorant argument I've ever read in my life.

Creepiest Christian comment yet

I don't know what to say. This is a Christian's idea of an argument against abortion — not just exaggerating abortion into murder, but also by trivializing rape.

Atheists always use rape as an argument for justifying killing because they want to justify abortion. But is rape really that bad? It's a horrible experience but you get over it with time. If you use it to justify murder you're never going to get over it. Imagine you have a painful divorce. Would you murder your children after because they remind you of your ex husband? Of course not. I think any woman would easily tell you that a painful divorce is worse than rape but it's not an excuse to kill your baby, so why is rape?

Christian women can also take a lot more than atheist women. Maybe this is part of the reason that atheists get so hung up about this. Christian women can turn to Christ or worship God in their hearts and endure great suffering. I'm not belittling it but think about it, no amount of suffering from rape is as great as the suffering our Lord suffered on the cross for our sins. You are the one who has to ask more true Christian women about this. You're out of touch and trying to make a big deal out of something just for shock value.

This is the kind of person you don't argue with…just walk away.
