Dave, you mentioned that there are meetups-- is the info posted on this site?

Adam,

Apology accepted. I hope that whatever was fueling your vitriol has been successfully dealt with.

Michelle, I cope with living in this ass-backwards redneck state because I don't have much choice. I've always wanted to go live in California or maybe Maryland/DC, but I don't think I'd be happy. I lived in a major metropolitan area in another country for a year and was really happy to come back to the Peach State. Despite all its bullshit, there are a lot of good things about living here too. Well, ok, I'm mostly talking about the food. You can't beat southern cooking! :)

To Dave, Michelle, Christopher, Aric and all others reading this,

I apologize for my misbehavior on this board. My belligerence was unacceptable and unwarranted. That it was fueled by sources outside this discussion matters little, I should not have brought my vitriol here.

Adam, that will not post after so many pints ag'in

p.s. I liked the Faulkner reference

I think there are quite a few atheists in Atlanta. I was at The Tabernacle for the David Cross show a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure that everyone there was an atheist. If not then they went to the wrong kind of comedy show.
Also, to the guy saying that we're running away if we choose to leave GA. That's pretty ridiculous. I'm probably moving to Florida within the next few years and after that I'm probably moving out of the country, but I'm not running away. I'm just leaving because I get bored if I stay in the same place too long. People move for all kinds of different reasons. Moving to a place that will make you happier doesn't make you a coward, racist, deserter, or any other such name you wish to call those who choose to leave Georgia.

Adam,

Accusations of racism now? You're pretty quick on the ad hominem attacks. But I suppose that's to be expected when you don't have anything of actual substance to say. A tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The Atlanta area has lots nontheists. If you have not met any, you need some new haunts. We are outnumbered down here by a zillion to one. If you are out and proud, be ready for some action. We like to fight.

quail.. was what I wanted to say before "God" hit the key... But the point I hear from you is that when the going gets tough the 'wimps' get going.

So.... as the Knights of Holy Grail would say:.... Run Away! Run Away! ... because the neighborhood isn't white enough anymore?

Adam, calling people cowards on the basis of a couple joking comments says more about you than us.

I'm open about my atheism. I've had long talks with theists that come knocking door to door, I meet up with other atheists pretty regularly (Michelle, stop by the meetups sometime, you'd like it), write letters, etc. And you know what? The religiosity of the Atlanta area has almost nothing to do with why I want to leave Atlanta. I just want to live somewhere else. Maybe somewhere with snow. Or near the Rockies. Just a change of scenery.

You, however, are another good reason to leave.

I wouldn't call it "running away"-- i'm originally from Miami and have been in GA for only a few years. I am openly Atheist and so far haven't met a single other person who admits to being nontheist. I'm surrounded by ignorance and constantly have to defend myself. Is it worth sticking around?
