I needed this vent for a long time

This venting will make me feel much better. I have one relative that's always posting the 'nice' bible verses. And when I was grabbing one to post here, I found something very interest...

Here is her posting:

"God is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you. Don't be intimidated. Don't worry." Deuteronomy 31:9

Now first, I was wondering what version this is. I KNEW it wasn't King James (LOL). So I looked it up. No matter what I searched for, I couldn't find those words. They all say the same thing so I present to you the Contemporary English Version below:

Deuteronomy 31:9 (Contemporary English Version)

Read These Laws
9Moses wrote down all of these laws and teachings and gave them to the priests and the leaders of Israel. The priests were from the Levi tribe, and they carried the sacred chest that belonged to the LORD.

This venting is good because so many times I wanted to reply with a 'not so nice' contradicting verse.

Please help me to understand, as I am somewhat daft. I can't see the relationship between these two passages, contradictory OR concurrent.

Well, it started out as a vent about all her daily bible quotes. THEN come to find out whatever she was quoting wasn't even referencing Deuteronomy 31:9
