If i see another "GOD is SO good..." followed by something inane that happened in the posters life, i might scream.
@ Casey Mc - I'll scream with you.
I've seen it all now. A relative put a video of her little boy sitting on the toilet crying on her Facebook, wtf?
Hi Flower,
No good gesture goes unpunished :-)
If you don't want to be frank with her and there's no way to beg off the invitation gracefully, then your best remaining option (in my opinion) is to bite the bullet and have dinner with her. I think that if you two really aren't friend material any more, that will be made more clear when you two spend more time together (rather than just in passing). If the visit is strained by incompatibility between you two, then that might be enough to end any further overtures from her. Here's the potential scenarios by the end of the visit:
With scenarios 1 and 3, you get what you say you want (you don't need to rekindle the relationship). Scenario 4 represents an unexpected but positive outcome: spending more than a few fleeting minutes together will have given you more to like than you realized was there. Scenario 2 is the outcome you apparently want to avoid. You'll be back at square one (or is it square zero?).
All else being equal, the odds are 75% in your favor.
@Jennifer Hall,
It's funny . . . in my email, I saw this reply of yours, then the very next email I opened said this:

*Sigh* Look at this:
[I posted the "Easter Quiz" on Think Atheist to Facebook]
Poster: I've not been swayed. All the questions up there are false especially the part where the gospels don't agree. Luke was a doctor so he took more notes and wrote more things down than all of the disciples did. I did know about the Easter namethough. Also, a phenomenon like the darkness and the earthquake and the temple, was seen by all the temple guards, pharisees and Romans, who wouldn't report any of that to pilot especially since he was the final decision maker in the whole crucifixion. Even though all of the gospels, minus Luke, do not say how many women went to the tomb, that doesn't matter, He did rise from the dead and people over the ages have taken that and twisted it into their own stories and accounts. The BIBLE, was NEVER changed from their meanings from the Greek, Roman, and Hebrew texts when translated by my so many Great Granpa's ago, John Reynolds, when he translated the official English text for the King James Version. Everything in the gospels MUST mirror everything prophesied in the Old Testament. Another thing is, the disciples had lost all their hope and were fearing for their lives since Jesus had died. The one they had followed and staked their lives on. Jesus said Peter would deny him 3 times before the cock would crow, and he did and it was recorded. Oh, and there is a way to know that the gospels were all preserved.
Poster: This is as twisted a quiz as you can ever get. No disciple would have staked their claims that Jesus rose again had He not appeared to them. They didn't believe the women, they called them Jokers. Not to mention, it's impossible for the disciples to even steal the body. 1) There's a HUGE GIGANTIC stone in front of the tomb with a seal from the governor, that no one may enter or go out. That boulder is huge, and for the disciples to move something that big without some sort of help is impossible. 2) There are Roman Guards there to block the way and only something supernatural like the angel could stop them, which one did. 3) The pharisees have already gone all out to call Jesus a liar, b/c they specifically knew he said he'd rise again in three days. And they bribed the soldiers telling them to say the disciples took the body, while they were sleeping, which we already know is impossible, and that they'd take care of the rest. (They'd have to be some heavy sleepers)
Me: [Poster's Name]... the disciples didn't write the gospels. The earliest OFFICIAL gospel was Mark which was written sometime after 65 AD.... and the others came later. The writers of the gospels are unknown to this day, and it should also be noted that the gospels were added to and edited multiple times, for a couple centuries. They're really NOT reliable sources of info on the life of Jesus at all. If you want to learn about Jesus, I would suggest you look at a variety of different sources about him, Josephus, Eusiebus, the Gnostic Gospels, the Sepher Toldoth Yeshu. It gives a fascinating look into different interpretations of Jesus.
Me: Or Yeshua... as his original name was thought to be.
Me: Also, [Poster's Name]... not all the gospels say that the women told anyone. The original version of Mark [the oldest gospel] says that the women "left and told no one."
