@arch ... here in Egypt we had a similar argument between an actress and a cleric and she managed to sue him and he's now in jail for defaming and insulting her

things like that just gives me hope.

I've noticed a lot of new members on this site from Cairo.  This is of course encouraging.

However.  I am a bit paranoid.  Perhaps I have studied too much Russian history.

Be very careful should you decide to get together in real life; I can imagine one Muslim faking atheism to try to expose the rest of you.

Good luck.  Hopefully some day Islam will be on the ash heap of history

Egypt draft constitution may ban religious political parties – report

Egypt’s new constitution may ban all religious political parties, sources told Ahram Online, as the army-backed interim government hints that it may declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization after clashes that have left over 800 dead.

The new draft constitution is expected to be announced Wednesday, Ali Awad Saleh, head of the committee drawing it up and a constitutional aide to the interim president, said in a Sunday press conference.

Translated from Arabic to English

The Moroccan human rights activist Kacem El Ghazzali is giving a speech at the Human Rights Council..
This time he's talking about the human rights issues in Saudi Arabia..

He's telling the story of Raif Badawi, Hamza Kashgari, Wajiha al-Huwaider and Fawzia Al-Oyouni.. ~ All of them are still in jail ~

"Raif Badawi" is sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes for founding liberal website.

"Hamza Kashgari" was arrested for writing a poem about an imaginary meeting with the prophet Mohammed.

"Wajiha al-Huwaider" and "Fawzia Al-Oyouni" are detained for attempting to a woman flee Saudi Arabia.

Ironically, that king Abdullah founded the KAICIID Dialogue Centre (King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue..

I love this picture!

Yeah,, men need to feel it too.. Looks like that they are aware of this.. I've seen so many male feminists who support women in the Middle East,, it's great!
