Wael Al Abrashi hosted a radical Salafist called Morgan El Gohary from Jihadist Salafist leaderships  in Egypt on Dream TV2 . This man used to fight with Taliban in Afghanistan and he recounts proudly how he participated ...
Now this man is saying that the Jihadist Salafists in Egypt will destroy the Sphinx and the Pyramids as well all other ancient statues in Egypt because they should be destroyed. His logic is that these statues were once worshipped and could be worshipped again.

You can read the rest of the story and some of the responses here.

I just have to add that whatever they are planning to do is not new as in the 15th century a muslim sheikh destroyed it and since then the sphinx is missing it's nose .. this time it might be it's neck.

The moderate muslims defending the sphinx and the other monuments say that they are not worshiped any more .. but what if they were worshiped and people used to pray for them will it be ok to destroy them !?

actually in Islam it's ok to destroy them wither they are worshiped or not .. here is a Fatwa concerning that.. Islam doesn't know such thing as cultural heritage of humanity.

if u haven't visited the pyramids or the sphinx yet .. probably this is the right time because may be tomorrow they will be gone.
