Al Jazeera undeterred by Egypt curb
Al Jazeera has expressed its “utter disappointment” with the blockage of its signal on Nilesat and sees this as a further attempt to block its reporting out of Egypt.
The news network said on Sunday that the move was a reaction to the popularity of its wide coverage of the events in Egypt.
On its bureau in Cairo being closed earlier by the Egyptian government, the network said it retained the right to take any available legal measures to reverse the move.
“Regardless of the multiple attempts by the Egyptian authorities to deter and impede our reporting, Al Jazeera continues its comprehensive coverage of the landmark events unfolding in Egypt,” Wadah Khanfar, the news organisations's director general said.

| Protesters across Egypt defy curfew.. |
Military deployed onto the streets of Cairo amid continued protests across the country.
Thousands of protesters in the Egyptian cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez have defied a nighttime curfew and continued with demonstrations demanding an end to Hosni Mubarak's 30-year presidency.
Military armoured vehicles rolled onto the streets of the capital on Friday night in a bid to quell the protests, but buildings have been set alight, and violent clashes continue after a day of unprecedented anger.
Comment by kelltrill on January 27, 2011 at 5:15am Hey guys, there's talk that this is receiving minimal global coverage so I just thought I'd post it here.
Madiba (Nelson Mandela) was admitted to hospital yesterday. They say it's routine but because of his age we're all worried.
Please follow this SA news site for local updates.

The media camped outside the hospital for the entire night and earlier yesterday Madiba's police had to forcefully remove them and up his security. There's also massive traffic jams near there because of concerned people.

But, really, this is what they are about - how is this any less scary than some, way far less likely, prospect of Islamists imposing sharia law in Oklahoma. No, these guys are the ones we need to fear.

This broke my heart to read. I hate the thought that people are just going to shrug off these people as just another number. We've become so accustomed to bloody violence that we are rendered jaded and apathetic towards it.
