Pope John Paul II used to whip himself with a belt

by Aishwarya Bhatt

Vatican City, Jan 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new book about Pope John Paul II, has revealed that he used to whip himself with a belt, even while he was on vacation. He also used to sleep on the floor, as an act of penitence, so that he could come closer to Christ. Monsignor Slawomir Oder, the postulator, wrote this book and it was released on Tuesday. The book is primarily based on the accounts by 114 witnesses, and lots of documents that Slawomir Oder collected on the John Paul II.

The book is titled ‘Why He’s a Saint’ and it includes incidents, which advertise his case to be a saint. The book also has his unpublished speeches and other documents, which were authored by John Paul himself. The book also had a memo in 1989, in which he said he would resign if he became incapacitated.

The book ‘Why He’s a Saint’ also divulged that John Paul II, forgave his attacker in the ambulance while he was on the way to the hospital moments after he was shot on May 13, 1981, in St. Peter’s Square. The book also said that he thought that his assassin was a member of the Italian terrorist organization the Red Brigades.

Abraham Maimonides – The Jewish Sufi

Jun 29, 2010 Daniel Gigi

How Islamic mysticism, known as Sufism, entered Jewish practice and helped formulate the practices of the later Kabbalists.

Abraham Maimuni, as he is called, was the only son, and heir, of the illustrious leader of the generation Moses Maimonides. He was born in 1186 when his father was 47 years old, and succeeded him as Rayyis Al-Yahud, head of Egyptian Jewry, after his death in 1204. This fact, namely his appointment to practically the most prestigious position of his day at the young age of just 18, is testament to his scholarly and religious standing.

In 1213 the honorific title of Nagid was conferred upon him. He served as Nagid for the majority of his adult life, and whilst his memory has been overshadowed by the contribution of his father, Abraham certainly played a significant role in the formation of modern Judaism and mysticism.

Abraham and Jewish Sufism

In medieval Egypt, within a peaceful and accepting society, Islamic mysticism, which has often been fated to the same intolerance as other faiths even under Islamic rule and to this day, was able to flourish and expand its influence. This influence even extended beyond Islam to other religions, in this instance to Judaism.

I believe that this is a shameful aspect of religion.

When monkeys are digging that doesn't make sense..

That's what makes the story a lie..

Comment by Mo Trauen on February 6, 2011 at 9:32am
The monkey stoning story is obviously a lie.  People have spent their lives studying monkeys and have never reported anything like that.  I seem to remember reading of monkeys being forced to leave their troop on occasion and even murdered, but digging a pit, burying them in it, and then stoning them?  That's just made up to try to justify behavior that is barbaric.

The one who made that video said, this story is not for fun,,,,,

I say, it is a humorous story...
