"There's no such thing as an Atheist!"

I thought this would provoke an interesting discussion. This is a claim we don't necessarily hear often, but the people who claim it seem to be adamant about it. There's no such thing as an Atheist!…Continue

This is not only a fantastic book about how Buddhism and atheism are compatible; but this is hands down the best book I have ever read about Buddhism. In fact it was the first book I ever read about…Continue

Is it important to distinguish between "Atheists" or "Nontheists" when talking about Eastern religions that do not subscribe to a godhead? Religions like Buddhism and Taoism seem to function…Continue

Greetings to one and all... I am happy to see this group here and look forward to new discoveries. I am particularly interested in meeting anyone who works in hospice and palliative care. I live in an area which is saturated with evangelical Christians and find very little support and understanding for non-theistic patients even though the hospice where I work is secular. I have felt strengthened in my own inner path and walking with the dying through the work of Roshi Joan Halifax of the Upaya Zen Center. If anyone else has experience in this work, please share your thoughts. Anne

I didn't know there was a group like this on TA.  I think I'll join.  Right now I'm just reading Batchelor's "Confessions of a Buddhist Atheist" but I should probably go back and read his earlier book "Buddhism without Beliefs" as well.

Wow, did paragon make the changes in the title and the pic or is paragon an alias for doone?
Nice changes if I don't say so myself. Thanx.

This wheel symbolizes "Buddhist Teachings" (Dharma).
Maybe it is too plain, but maybe plain is good.

(1) What is "crosslink"?
(2) How would I share an icon idea?

Wow, it got changed!! Who did that?
Now, can we change the icon?
I could make suggestions. Anything but the faddish Ying-Yang and dragons! arghhhh! :-)

Once a group is formed, is it possible to change the name. I think "Buddhist Atheists" would be simpler and to the point.
Further, the symbol of Ying-Yang (Taoist) strikes me as odd for this group. But I couldn't find another Buddhist group on THink ATheist.

I am a very blunt and straight-forward person. I enjoy the same out of other people. I hope more people join this group with the intent of spreading some knowledge on Buddhism and more specifically philosophy. I'd rather concentrate on life and the philosophies of it, than the ones pertaining to the afterlife.

Very nice Mario. :) I just read an article on secular Buddhism yesterday.
