1000 mile run

A lot of times new runners start out their running "career" blindly. With all the information available, it can be difficult to know what is most important in running for beginners. Running is a fun, natural, healthy activity but it does take some knowledge and forethought to run without getting injured.

In short, this group has alot of information on how to run correctly, and get you on the right path!

Also I started a 1000 (With 642.76 miles completed) mile Atheist run for anyone that has the Nike + system. Even if you don't have the nike + system you can still post your run's here in the group! If you have any questions let me know!

Morgan Matthew~

Trust me its so worth getting the Nike plus system! Let me know if you have any questions. Join the Atheist Running group guys :D

This is my Runs a few days ago The system makes it fun again to run!

TCA, nice going on the triathlon! The closest I've got to competing in one of those was when I helped out as an official at the Iron Man-competition where I grew up (which meant holding up traffic in a intersection downtown for three hours). I just came in from my best run EVER. 15km @ 1.08.11. I've got a runner's high so strong that I would probably get suspected for possession right now

That sounds awesome Christoffer! I've been going pretty steady for the last few months with my Triathlon training, and I did my first triathlon last weekend! It was a sprint so it was a 500m swim, 20k bike and 5k run. I found out I am very slow at the transitions, need to work on that, and the swim was my worst event, but it was rough for everyone because Lake Huron was cold and choppy with 2-3ft waves! I started off around 30th after the swim but completely made up for it on the run (having been a runner most my life) and ended up 16th overall out of 255 and 3rd in my age group! I now have the triathlon bug :-) I'm doing another one on October 10th.

Hah, I'm back! And I've been able to keep my running up. I've done over 400km since april and I've been able to set new time records at 5k and can pull off a half-marathon when it comes to distance. How are the rest of you doing?

I totally started my running career "blindly." I was the kid with asthma growing up (thanks, smoking parents!), and then I took this "online cardio" class this past summer. I had to wear this monitor that recorded my heartrate, and my elliptical just wasn't cutting it anymore to get my heart rate up. I decided to try running (in a random pair of shoes I own), and have stuck with it ever since. I started at maybe a half mile, gasping like I was going to die and dripping sweat. Now I run five miles whenever I can (uh, but I'm still gasping like I'm going to die and dripping sweat-- that's just my running style!). I do have better shoes. Running is my way to get outside and be by myself (I don't know that I run well with others) and get some stress out. Yay for running!

I just started tapering for my first full marathon in Ogden, Utah in 3 weeks! My last 20 miler felt great and I'm really excited I found this group before my race. Finding (outed) atheists in Utah is nearly impossible, so I'll take any support I can get :)
Anyone from Utah, here???
