China's reaching 1.5:1 boy:girl ratio. I originally thought "cool, women gain in value", but it turns out the paucity of women in China is causing an increase in extreme male behaviours to 'acquire' wives. Always the Law of Unintended Consequences comes to mess up any grand scheme humans come up with. By law, Chinese doctors are not allowed to divulge the sex of the baby, but money buys knowledge, and with knowledge comes differential abortion rates.
