Incentivizing Outrage

One of the primary laws of human nature is that people respond to incentives. Changing incentives changes people’s behavior, often dramatically. MUMPS is used mainly by hospital laboratories, or at least that's where I encountered it. In essence, it is an interpreted language that is based heavily on BASIC (line numbers, etc) with some added functionality (subroutines, etc) and a hierarchical (not relational) database bolted onto it.

COBOL, wow that brings back memories. I haven't programmed in COBOL in years. These days, it's mostly C, Java, and Perl. Occasionally some other languages, as needed. Anyone else ever used MUMPS?
