Has "X" number of years of coding affected your beliefs? Were you a theist before you became a programmer. For myself, I think my years using logic and abstract thinking made me think more critically…Continue

Hi all. 25 yrs in IT. Not sure it had any effect on my religious beliefs which have never been significant. I was interested in Zen Buddhism (DT Suzuki's books) for a few years. It's probably true that coding and thinking logically tends to encourage atheist viewpoints.

Hiya.

I'm a Web and Software Developer and I work in a bunch of different languages. Mostly MS VS on Windows.

I wonder if I'm the only burnout in this group. At some point what I do for a living became mundane and boring. I think that has a lot to do with the last few companies I've worked for though.

How do the discussions posted in this group by Dave Hitts relate to programming/coding/etc?

Been in IT since 1992 (as a profession - geek my whole life). I specialize in collaborative technologies, predominately Notes/Domino and other IBM/Lotus products/platforms. I also "do" MS stuff (i.e. Office, Sharepoint, .NET, etc.), but Lotus has been paying the bills for quite some time. I am currently the CTO of Workflow Studios (www.workflowstudios.com), and I have a blog at http://www.lotusgeek.com . I speak at conferences all over the world, and I have written a couple of books along the way (last one - "Notes and Domino 6 Programming Bible", Wiley 2003).
