Are you an Atheist who has read the bible? Maybe you are an ex-christian, or maybe you just wanted to read it to acquire more knowledge on the subject. I'm sure you are still an Atheist after reading it. lol

One of the most interesting phenomena amongst Xtians is their persistent belief in a rapture of Xtians from the plant just prior to what is called the Great Tribulation. What is so, so sad is that…Continue

Comment by Wayne Mowery on January 9, 2012 at 1:57pm I read the Bible and Koran regularly. The more that I read either of them, the more of an atheist I become. The truth is that you have to be taught how to read a religious text and trained on which traditions to accept and reject. If people read either of these books without understanding the "culture" of the religion - they would all be atheists. Which is why neither of these books is a source of morality. The real source of "morality" comes from the religious traditions that are created, maintained, and updated by people. Which is why religious morality is not moral to begin with - just another point of view.
Comment by percy on January 6, 2012 at 2:54pm i used to be one of jehovah's witnesses. i have read the new testament and a part of the old but never read it in it's entirety. it always amazed me how the society would change their "thinking" on issues at a regular basis when they had been proved wrong about something. quite an experience lol :D
Comment by Dylan Alexander Fick on June 28, 2011 at 9:26pm I read the King James version of the Bible three times from age 11 to 16 as a defense mechanism against the psycho fundamentalist Southern Baptists in Tennessee where I had the misfortune of living.
Some of them back off when you know more about their religion than they do.
Comment by Andrew Irvine on June 21, 2011 at 3:35pm I lost my faith when I was 10 years old. My mother, at my grand-fathers request, sent my brother and I to an old lady for bible study. It was the first proper exposure we'd had to the nonsense contained within and it didn't take me long to figure out it was rubbish. I've read it a lot since, along with other holy books, as it helps when explaining to people why I disagree with it.

Comment by Katrin Schwarz on June 16, 2011 at 7:38am Wanting to be a more knowledgeable christian caused me to delve deeply into the Bible. Ironically it was my independent study of bible history and particularly studies of the interlinear Greek New Testament and the interlinear Hebrew Old Testament along with various language study aids that convinced me that there were many blatantly deceitful and warped the translations twisted to suit the agendas of the translators. This was the trigger that started my long climb out of the pit of indoctrination that had been brainwashed into me from childhood. With ongoing study of bible history and a growing openness to common sense I gradually became convinced that the bible was an old myth that had been deceitfully modified over the years to suit various political and personal agendas. In all it took more than ten years for me to de-program myself enough to admit that christianity was phoney and that I had been brainwashed.
I have not studied the bible for many years now because I regard it as just another myth and irrelevant in my life.
