I'd like to read it, Unseen. I'll send you my email address in a PM :)
I hissed at Squeaky yesterday. I was petting her when she turned around and latched onto me with her claws and landed an unpleasantly hard play bite on me. I hissed and she broke off and headed for the hills.
I am finishing up a small book directed at people thinking about becoming a cat owner. Would anyone here like to read it and comment privately on it? I can send it to you as a PDF file.
for the week, Nariahn the atheist cat and I are looking after my theist freind's home and cat. There is a a sure case of the theist cat vs the atheist cat going on... lol.. the atheist cat looks on curiously at the theist cat sending off growls and hisses.
Glad the hissing works ((^_^)) , works with my Nariahn always.. hehe :-)
What a gorgeous cat, enaz. Sort of a cross between a tabby and tuxedo.
Thanks for the depressing news, Angela E.
And enaz, I read some advice early on that I had basically become Squeaky's "mother," and that controlling her behavior could be done by simulating what a mother cat would do with a kitten who was out of line. So I have done the gentle tapping and I've hissed (works great!). Very occasionally, she gets scruffed. I will sometimes hold her down by her scruff and she becomes immediately immobile.
BTW, everyone, I finally broke Squeaky of jumping up on my toaster oven. I had this idea once of grabbing an oven mitt (not putting it on), I roughly smacked the oven while she was standing on it and it made a sound like a gunshot. She didn't just jump to the nearby ledge she used to get to the oven, she jumped all the way down to the floor!
She got up there one more time and I responded the same way. She hasn't even thought about getting up there for two weeks.
when tapping the cat dont do it rouph, just nudge it.
