During a Christmas party, I met this guy in a Church who thinks that dinosaurs were invented by scientists to try to deceive people, and thus make them think that the Bible is wrong.

The guy is so sure of himself, that it would be difficult for anyone to tell him otherwise. I don't know how widespread this viewpoint is

I asked to him, “What do you suggest that fossils might be? It is hard to deny their existence when you see the actual remains of them."

He said that fossils were "planted" by atheists to try to show that the timeline of creation didn't happen the way the Bible describes it.

He also once showed me a tape-recording of people supposedly screaming in Hell. The story goes that some miners were digging very deep, and they got so close to Hell that they could hear people screaming.

That leads me to wonder whether he believes that Hell is physically inside the Earth. But this is a question to ask a theological. Not in this forum.

Truth to be told, he does not really reflect mainstream Protestant tradition.

Hi everyone.  I recently started a new job in Sept. and am working full time now.   I am so busy and tired when I get home from work, that I have not had much time to check out this site.  There are alot of new groups popping up.  Thanks to Syndi for starting this one.

My poor brother-in-law was asked to do grace again this year. Mom-in-law knows I'm a 'heathen' so I haven't been asked yet (I did have a secular thanks thought out if asked though). Thing is, my brother-in-law is Atheist as well, but she doesn't know. Well, he's like "OK, I'll say thanks then?". To which she says to say grace... the standard one... we're mostly Catholics here. (I'm Atheist, wife id Wiccan, her friend is Mennonite, B-I-L is a secret Atheist, S-I-L, M-I-L and nephew are all supposedly Catholic. It made me smile, yet feel bad for him at the same time. He really tried to get out of saying grace to say thanks instead, but he hasn't come out yet, so didn't fight when pressed. I did my normal waiting quietly for everyone to finish talking to themselves. He actually peaked while everyone was praying and I gave him a nod to let him know I understood. Sadly, we never have time to discuss the subject when we're over there though. Otherwise my mother-in-law would have to be forced out of the delusion that you can leave the Catholic church , that I have officially, and that this isn't a phase...
