To me the world seems to have lost it's mind. Last few days have looked at pictures of gitmo bay and almost threw up. The dehumanizing of people was beyond words. History talked of hitler and auschwitz. Decades later what I saw in those photos of gitmo made me think of images of the the very humiliation that the United states once fought against. Turkey is burning because of fighting back the government turned on it's own people like a mad dog. here in america we finally start getting rights for LBGT . Along comes salvation army saying that it should be a death sentence. Killing people over religion seems to be on the rise. in india  women are burning for supposed witchcraft and girls killed  being victims of rape . The catholic church is says birth control is wrong . Nuns who argue with church are being excommunicated.  In last political race it was debated whether women had a right to their on viginas .  People are dying world over because of religion and lack of even basic medical and dental care. there is hope for this world right?

Woo, getting personal about a matter of which you have no knowledge.

Okay.

Anyone who knows a Brit, knows what "woo" means.

Our ancestors fought for freedom from tyranny; the great, great, great, (repeat "great" a few thousand times), grand children of the people who left earth can fight for their own freedom.

And to be exiled before one is even born on a multi-generational trip where one is essentially an employee with essentially no labor rights that might be brought to bear against one's employers. That is almost a definition of tyranny or even slavery.

U, your mention of being exiled before being born reveals your liberalism.

You could mention the millions of tons of food and water the trip will require and reveal your conservatism.

Enroute labor rights are no problem. If you have a grievance, stop working. Your distant employer won't replace you with someone who will consent to slavery.

Hm-mm, now that we're talking the trip's logistics, dehydrated food and water will weigh less.

U, your mention of being exiled before being born reveals your liberalism.

Not if life begins at birth, which is what most liberals believe. In that case, the exile would begin AT birth.

You could mention the millions of tons of food and water the trip will require and reveal your conservatism.

Such a craft would have to be, essentially, a sort of terrarium, with water recycled and food grown on the way, with waste composted.

Stopping working could be fatal.

A terrarium in space, where there's no air?

Oh, of course, an anaerobic and anhydrous terrarium.

Re the work. There's an unspoken policy that requires continuing the work that assures survival and stopping the work that enriches the employer.

A terrarium in space, where there's no air?

I'm fairly certain air can be maintained within an enclosed space. We do it all the time.

There's an unspoken policy that requires continuing the work that assures survival and stopping the work that enriches the employer.

Ah, but to Unseen there is no employer. Or rather, the tyrannical employer is the group of people who first launched the ship, now long dead.

I found this interesting, if not more than a bit surprising:

Is the wealthy Mike Huckabee ministering to a congregation and, from the collections, trying to pay the bills?

He knows remembers not whereof he speaks.

Interestingly, today, Governor Rick ("Oops!") Perry vetoed a bill that would have guaranteed women in the state of Texas, equal pay for equal work - what would you bet that next election, those same women, who would have benefited from passage of this bill, will still vote for him? WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

They believe in doG.

Even that isn't - or shouldn't be - reason enough to support an idiot who says you don't deserve equal pay for doing the same work as the man standing next to you.

When I was younger, men WERE the primary breadwinners in the family, but a), that is no longer the case, and b), many women are not even in a relationship with a bread-winning man, and need their own funds for their own families.
