The problem is whenever Islam is questioned there are riots and heavy violence against the "Blasphemer"

This never happens with any other religion

Muslims are offended way too easily and this is why a lot of them are still Muslims if they'd relax a bit we'd have a lot more freethinkers

it doesn't have to be a wide scale criticism in the media .. just in the circle of your friends and family will do .. spreading the idea that islam isn't above questioning .. just ask questions without offending anyone .. questions will make people think and it will spread the idea of how cruel and immoral Islam is.

even their violent responses and riots will raise more questions and more criticism .. just don't hesitate to criticize out of fear of their violence because this is exactly what they want.

@ Salah, I think the reason there is always a buzz once someone start questioning Islam"or any other religion really" is that once the book becomes a matter that can be debated it loses it's holiness, and once that off the way, you really cant believe in it anymore.
@Marvel, I totally agree with you. Its gna be more acceptable if it comes from ex-muslims when it comes to critcizing Islam, but my only concern to be honest with you, is whether that will be used politicaly to empower certain groups" islamist for instance" and pass on some laws and regulations. I have a feeling that the number of atheists and deists and everything in between in Egypt is massive but we still can't start saying it now, but the numbers of ppl who believe in those religions and who r scared of even considering what we are thinking off, are way too much.

defending the basic human rights as the right to choose one's religion or belief will lead to the discussion about the morality of Sharia laws and Islam itself .. it's inevitable to criticize islam especially when the islamists are using it politically to empower their position.

Discussions at the moment won't be about the entity of God or creationism vs evolutionism .. it will be more about the morality of the sharia laws and if it's right to be ruled by laws put by people 1400 years ago .. that's the debate is all about at the moment.

I'm working on an atheist moral theory.  It's directly compatible with the religious moral systems, because it's the same thing stated in atheist terms.  This would seem like a very gentle conciliatory way of trying to shift some of the wayward religious morality.  The main points will be illustrated with ideas/quotes from the religions, because this is inclusive and allows the religions to showcase the best they have to offer.  So far I've studied Christianity, Islam and Buddhism, and they're all full of material which can be used.  The idea is that anyone who wants to can be proud to take it on their own terms. 

My problem is that I can't for the life of me find anyone to debate it with.  Debating it will help me think it through.  It's simple, it's sound, and it works, but it needs to be as tight and comprehensive as possible before it's fully published.  So far, most of the "Christian" atheists have been unable to help.  Either I'm met with incomprehension or I'm shouted down.  You know how it is.  There are some local Buddhists, but they're monks and they don't live "normal" lives.  It has to be able to cope with all the current problems and find the best solution that can be achieved under the circumstances.  Luckily, it's very "fertile" and self-generating. 

Can any of the "Muslim" atheists help me to debate it?  I can see how urgent the situation is.  What do you all think about the idea?  I want to keep it under the radar for the time being, i.e. tucked away on Think Atheist.  The idea is to produce a clean, simple argument which anyone can state in thirty seconds.  The central premise comes from evolution and I've been reading widely for the past 18 months.  Right now it's kind of in bits like a motorbike under construction. 

Once the ideas are fully developed, I can take it to the world and attract a more official team of people.

I think atheists worldwide should drive some attention towards Islamists as the fire they are creating won't be confined to the middle east.

increase the awareness around you .. your societies don't know the real dangers that this religion is capable of bringing. They could be tricked by it until they become in a powerful position .. only then you will know its true face as we did in here.

 Unfortunately, through out history every oppressed group has had to stand up for themselves in order to make change. Not to say that outsiders never helped but it kind of has to be a supportive roll.

 I think it's tough for anyone that has never personally experienced Islam to personally stand up and speak out against it. They are busy dealing with their own bully.

In this case my bully was Christianity. I appreciate the support I might get from a former Muslim-gone-Atheist but, I wouldn't expect them to fight the fight so to speak.

There's no reason to turn our backs on our brothers and sisters.  To do so makes a colder world for everyone.  Those of us who have suffered at the hands of religion will understand all the more the plight of others in a similar situation.
