Please understand that I am not saying that Christians shouldn't be on here. Maybe they can learn a lot of things from us. I hope they do. But my question is, if you are Christian, why would you join this site to begin with? What is your intent?

And fellow atheists, I haven't signed in this site for over a year until a couple of days ago. I don't know what has been going on and it would be hard to look through all of the forums. Have any of these Christisans been evangelical or argumentative? I would assume that the only reason they would be here is to try to convert us. After all, they don't knock on my door on saturday mornings just to be friends. Their intent is to save me or invite me to church.

Neal - You so bad lol.

I like it when a religious person posts (as long as it does not happen too often).

I was at Atheist Nexus a lot and someome told me about this site but told me they allowed religious people at TA so I said "No, I don't want to go to a site that allows religious people - all that bickering is boring and tiresome to me".  But then they told me religious people rarely post so I came and I'm glad I did. I like it here.  The threads are interesting and active. There is a good group of key people who have a knack of keeping people interested in replying to threads and who are good at starting a lot of threads. This site is great.

I agree. This is why Atheist Nexus is so international. I was against not allowing Christians and other theists at first. However, there is a certain safety in not allowing them. Some of us, cannot come out for various reasons. Especially, those from Muslim countries. They get killed if they leave their religion.

Tell AE to start a thread for it in Hungry Atheist.

(He was a more devoted cook than I am, so I gave him my cooking group. :)

We can use it as a link for when Christians start preaching. Just redirect them to it!

Neal,

You didn't tell me that you forgot to attend the mandatory "Sensitivity Seminar" last week!   :^ )

The question itself is absurd. To go on website "x" you don't need a reason. You just can go.

I am sure most people arrive here like all of us stumble upon a random website. That's the internet for you.

You wouldn't even know any christians or religious people in general were here unless they would have registered and honestly edited their profile pages. I guess that was the actual question, not why they visited this website at least once.
They tend to come for a lot of different reasons. Some more honest than others.

Some come to preach and convert. Among these there are those who are open about it and those who claim to just be here to talk, but are actually trying to proselytize. Most of the first type rarely lasts more than a week or two, as having their 'surefire' arguments shot down and their logical fallacies exposed tends to discourage them and they go seeking easier prey. The second lasts longer, but I suspect it's just because they have more invested in their 'not converting' cover and thus feel the need to stick around a little after their preaching hits a wall.

Others come out of curiosity and either leave after satisfying it or stick around. Some even become atheists as they learn more about thinks outside their faith.

Still more just come to troll and condemn. They range from the drive-by troller who posts once or twice and is never seen again to ones who hang out for months contributing nothing but the occasional 'You are all going to hell' comment.

And then there are those who come to do battle. Who come less to convert and more to debate and show just how wrong people who don't share their beliefs are. These range from the tiresome to the truly interesting.

Most Theists just "hit and run". A few do stay to discuss some scientific topics but generally leave when their brain starts to hurt. I have looked at some Christian Forums. Their debates are so moronic at times that my brain hurts. I have no issues with them here as long as they understand the rules. They also make me want pancakes.
