Please understand that I am not saying that Christians shouldn't be on here. Maybe they can learn a lot of things from us. I hope they do. But my question is, if you are Christian, why would you join this site to begin with? What is your intent?

And fellow atheists, I haven't signed in this site for over a year until a couple of days ago. I don't know what has been going on and it would be hard to look through all of the forums. Have any of these Christisans been evangelical or argumentative? I would assume that the only reason they would be here is to try to convert us. After all, they don't knock on my door on saturday mornings just to be friends. Their intent is to save me or invite me to church.

This is a good place to earn conversion points.
Lol, or at least they can say that they tried but "the devil was too strong for them."
I'm sure each has his own reasons but I like that a few come and stay for a bit. It gives my a look at there arguments and how to counter them. If they get to preachy I either go to another thread or try to make them mad. If I don't see it as productive, I'll at least have fun with it. I've seen several people with the same approach on here from time to time. It's all fun and games til someone looses an eye, so wear goggles!
They is just a trollllllliiiiiiing,  my dear!  Or, if we're lucky, they are having serious doubts about their religion.

I would love it :D

Never likely to happen though. That sucks cause I am awesome. I tell my husband I wish I were him so I could be married to me. O well, their loss.

That would be annoying as hell.

Christians are welcome here.  However, they are not welcome to preach, proselytize, or provoke (to borrow from the ACA).  As Neal stated, most that come here for those reasons do not stay long.  Many leave on their own accord when their "iron clad" apologetics arguments get torn to shreds by the seething mob of freethinkers.  Others make a nuisance of themselves and get shown to the door.  But, a rare few come here and are respectful of others and seem to enjoy an open and honest debate in a civil atmosphere.

Perhaps this is poor phrasing on your part, but I wondered why you or anyone would "fear" an attempt by another to convert them to anything?  I guess I see the atheism movement of late as something more than a trending of simple dictionary definition atheism.  Or, at least, I'd like to think it is.  Perhaps your fear is not that they would succeed, but that their ulterior motives are sinister.  Either way, those crusaders don't fair well here.

I agree, they are welcome.  I was raised muslim, but went to a catholic school, so I know a lot about these 2 religions, but I admit, there are still things I don't know about them and other religions and I'm very much intrested.  Not because I believe in them, but because most people around me do.   I'm intrested in why people believe in certain things.  If I get comments on my atheïsm I mostly reply them with contradictions in their own belief rather than science or evolutiontheorie.

I don't fear it at all. You are right, it was poor phrasing. I will edit and re-word that. What I was meaning is that I find it extremely annoying when they do this. They jump into every other site and throw christianity at you, they spread it all around your community, and commercials are all over tv. Facebook has become like church these days. People thank and praise god on there every few posts. For some, an atheist website is someplace that you can express your views without the interference of proselytizing, but I am sure that many others on here enjoy the debate. They may not deal with it on a daily basis as I do from friends/fam./co-workers. It has just gotten old for me.

I am happy to have them here all the same because I think that, when we find the few that are genuinely interested in a healthy discussion, it is worth it.

If they didn't try to spread it, then it would not be successful.  But, actually it is successful because they tenaciously spread it.  I often find it ironic and amusing how much evolutionary processes apply to the religious meme.
Very poetic.  I enjoy being a shredder in the seething mob of free thinkers.

Well i sometimes check out christian forums just to have a good laugh and shake my head at their delusion.

And i don't mind if christians come here, i bet most just join here to test their faith and see if it's strong enough against the onslaught  of reason that those devil worshippers can bring to bear :)

And i would never be afraid to debate with a christian or indeed any other religious person , i know they don't have any arguments that would lead me to believe in a deity, there is and never will be any evidence for it.

Like PZ meyers said in a video i saw a few days ago, even if a 900 foot jesus would come back to earth would you then believe in a god? , and i thought to myself no ofcourse not, and he said he would instead sneak up to this person with biopsy needle to see what made it tick.

And that's just the thing as a scientist you would never think of it as a magic deity but as a scientific curiosity, that needed to be disected to understand it.

Evidence is everything.
