Please understand that I am not saying that Christians shouldn't be on here. Maybe they can learn a lot of things from us. I hope they do. But my question is, if you are Christian, why would you join this site to begin with? What is your intent?
And fellow atheists, I haven't signed in this site for over a year until a couple of days ago. I don't know what has been going on and it would be hard to look through all of the forums. Have any of these Christisans been evangelical or argumentative? I would assume that the only reason they would be here is to try to convert us. After all, they don't knock on my door on saturday mornings just to be friends. Their intent is to save me or invite me to church.

Permalink Reply by Violet Chartreuse on February 5, 2011 at 6:19pm Good question, Becky. I was wondering what their motive was, too.
As I have been following some of the debates with them I have become really impressed with my fellow members here at TA. I have learned so much from our responses and am really impressed with the level of knowledge, integrity and thoughtfulness displayed. (I started to name names, but there are too many and I don't want to leave anyone out.) You guys are amazing. I need to add you all as friends.
No matter the reason for the Christian visitors, I am really proud to be part of this TA society.
Bring 'em on. ; )

Permalink Reply by Julien on February 5, 2011 at 6:39pm I guess you haven't seen Abdallah's discussions. He's not a member anymore, so those discussions are gone too (somebody should do something about that). I guess religious people are here either to try and convert us, or they have doubts and Think Atheist is one of the websites they have found while searching for more information. Curiosity is also an explanation.
And we can learn things from religious people too, it's not only one way...
Permalink Reply by Julien on February 5, 2011 at 7:15pm Well, I'm sorry for the confusion. I have answered to this discussion with all religious people in mind, not just christians, and for some atheists that come from let's say muslim backgrounds, christians can teach them some things, more or less directly. The most important thing religious people have taught/showed me, is how far a person can go with his/her delusion(s). I wasn't even close with what I used to think people would do when it comes to religion. I hope my (general) response is not a problem, you just have to replace 'religious people' with 'christians'.
And that guy, Abdallah, has started a few discussions trying to convert us to Islam and to love his dear Allah, but to every pseudo-argument he made, he received dozens of researched, informed, meaningful counterarguments, but he still went on with his preachings. I guess he's a lost cause. I haven't followed his conversations closer to his departure from this site, so I don't really know why he left, but I don't think it's that hard to figure it out. :)
