I have many pet peeves but these are my biggest two that get under my skin really badly:

1) When people punctuate "Guess what" with a question mark. That is not correct and it drives me nuts. It is an imperative, therefore you would punctuate it with a period or an exclamation point.

2) When people use phrases like "Kelly and I" incorrectly. They label photos with "David and I" when it is actually supposed to be "David and Me". I see it used incorrectly on Facebook almost every time I log in. Is it because the people that I know (I mostly have only R.L. friends on FB) received poor education here in SC or is it just ignorance?

No matter what your pet peeve is, please share. It doesn't have to be about words or grammar... it can be anything! And please tell us why it gets to you.

Evolution is "just a theory".........Arrrrrrggghhh!!!!
O yeah, that is really annoying. Or that we "came from apes". They clearly don't understand it.

Agree- whole- heartedly concur- so annoying

Have you ever read anything on eveolution "No - why should I?" Well so you daon't make those idiotic comments for one

I hate that one too.  My response is usually "Gravity is also just a 'theory.'"  LOL.
When people use "your" and "you're" incorrectly. Or "there", "their", and "they're". Also, whenever I have headphones on and people are talking to me. That really pisses me off. Whenever I don't have headphones on, no one messes with me. But whenever I have them on everyone suddenly feels the need to ask me stuff. It's so annoying (>.<)*
I almost listed the "your", "you're", "their", "they're", and "there" thing but I thought it would come off as a rant because I already had two things listed for written communication.

Any spelling or grammar errors make me nuts.  For crying out loud, we have spell check, how hard can it be?   I often see threw for through and sense spelled sence.  That makes me scream.

I am guilty sometimes- especially when it's late at night after being at the bar- working on a cruise ship- even for the crew it's .10 cents a minute on a slow satellite connection- no time for spell check- Sorry- home May 13th- much better comments then
Spell check doesn't necessarily correct improper use of there, they're, and their, although used incorrectly it is spelled right.
Yeah Lisa.  I agree.  But spell check wouldn't pick up the error if it is the wrong word, but spelled correctly.  :)

Oddly enough I started mixing them up more after I taught English as a second language.

Actually, my spell checker does.  But then again, that might be because I use Word 2010.  Red underline is for incorrect spelling.  Green is for questionable grammar, blue is for (for the most part) spelled correctly, but used questionably.  If you follow the link, it tells you what it thinks the problem is.  If you determine your wording is correct, you can keep it that way, but usually I follow the prompts.
