We've all heard that people that listen to Mozart and similar music are smarter than those that listen to other music. I know this has a lot to do with stereotyping, but I wonder if there is any truth behind it.
As atheists, we are very educated individuals, so I know that by polling you all, I might could get an idea of whether or not there is any correlation between music and intellectual capacity or music and freethought. Perhaps atheists tend to listen to one particular type of music.
Personally, my first choice is rap, followed by classic rock. I know that is an odd combination, but that is the two types of stations that I always tune in to.
What is your choice of music? If you have more than one, you can list them in the order that you like best. Can't wait to see your answers!

Permalink Reply by Morgana on February 19, 2012 at 11:13pm I listen to almost anything besides rap and country. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of showtunes, mostly music from Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Over the summer, I started to enjoy listening to "mellow" music by artists like Adele and Michael Buble, and within the last week or so, I started listening to Florence and the Machine. I've also started to relive my childhood by listening to Disney music (The Lion King is the main one.) :)
I like instrumental music too. As an artist, I find instrumental stuff to be the most relaxing and helps me focus. I adore listening to soundtracks, and my absolute favorite is the How to Train your Dragon soundtrack... I draw a lot of dragons, so the music is very fitting, lol.
