I listen to everything, from classical to hip-hop to metal. Literally any genre you can think of, chances are I listen to it. I can understand why some genres don't appeal to others, but to me music is music and if it sounds good it sounds good. Depending on my mood, I may prefer one genre over the other.

I'll throw in my vote for hating country.  I have pretty eclectic tastes. Lots of independent music...Flaming lips would be tops, Decemberists, Death Cab for Cutie, etc., but also a lot of punk, ska rock,and reggae, also quite a bit of classic rock, but not all. I tend to dislike most pop/urban/rap/hip hop. I DO like classical, and jazz, as well.

I'm sort of all over the place musically. Lots of prototypical punk rock (Television, MC5, Stooges, New York Dolls, Patti Smith), jazz (Sun Ra, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders), weirdo/off kilter/noise/noisy/new wave/no wave/etc (Harry Partch, Wolf Eyes, Scratch Acid, Swans, SONIC YOUTH, DNA, etc etc). Jimi Hendrix was amazing. Led Zeppelin were cool, too.

And I absolutely LOVE the blues.

Before my hearing completely failed I loved Vivaldi, and Mozart but I also loved a range of other music including Gaelic  folk music, the music of Joni Mitchel, Nanci Griffith, van Morrison. For the most part I detested the pop music of my own country, if you ever get the chance to hear some Dutch pop music - RUN AWAY !

For me I love Metal...almost anything metal and also a genre that started a fews yeas back called deathcore, so I'm not sure if anyone listens to them but bands like Carnifex, Whitechapel, Born of Osiris,and job for a cowboy, etc. I am also a Slipknot fanatic (maggot for life) and also a few Paramore songs, but mostly bands like those.

I listen to A LOT of classical as well as punk, hardcore rock and alternative/indie music. I also enjoy the music of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

I have kind of odd, compartmentalized taste in music.  Every 4 or 5 years or so I'll make a radical change over the course of a few months, but there are a few I never get tired of like The Black Crowes, Frank Zappa, and Jeff Beck.

In high-school I was mostly into classic rock, instrumental rock, and some prog.  notables include Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, and Joe Satriani.

When I studied music in college, I was submerged in and embraced classical and Jazz (mostly fusion).  The classical composers I liked the most were Bach, Debussy, and Ravel.  For Jazz: all the post-Miles fusion guys like Herbie Hancock, MAhavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Dixie Dregs, Billy Cobham, John Scofield, Mike Stern...

But now I'm mostly into "indie" and "alt" rock/pop, as generic as that sounds.  Especially female vocalists for some reason.  The Dead Weather, Nicole Atkins, Wye Oak,  Rachael Yamagata, Cults, Warpaint...

wow...i amazed to see how many metal fans there are here!!  i started listening to metal some 28 years ago when i was 11 years old.  i actively played in bands and wrote music for a long time.  anything from AC-DC to Slayer to Nile. metal is king!!

through the years i also learned to appreciate (and thoroughly enjoy!) blues as well as classical music.

I listen to whatever I like. It's hard to really say what genres I prefer because there are so many. I would never say "No I never listen to that genre" because it always depends on the artist. 

But the following genres I could identify with: Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Classical, Bluegrass, Alternative, Singer/Songwriter, Electro. 

But then again, I only listen to some artists in each genre and find others making my ears bleed.
