What is Hinduism?
Am from Hindu Background left the religion cause it was too funny to be following. 10 heads on 1 person, lol they crack me up. Now I never really knew what Hinduism was all about. When I argue with my friends I find that every one believes in totally different stuff and some are even atheist( godless, but not a materialist) and still be a Hindu. So I did a wiki and found that these guys can be a Hindu and still be monotheist, polytheist, pantheist, and atheist. So my Q what is Hinduism's core belief and do they have a scripture to be followed because none of my alleged Hindu friends read or even has ever read any. So its easier for me to read and debunk. There are not many debates on Hinduism? The ones that are there are in some Indian Language I don't know.

I can't say I know much (or anything) about Hinduism, but it seems that's it's more of a cultural thing than religuos, since most Hindus come from India.

The form of Hinduism I'm familiar with was explained to me from an Indian college student on holiday in Thailand.
I don't know much about it, but here are a few points of interest:
Buddha was Hindu.
The idea behind monotheistic Hinduism is that all the gods and goddesses are only just different facets and faces of the one true god. This god is broken down into smaller, easier to grasp personalities because the human mind cannot understand true omnipotence.
Some forms of Hinduism believe in a hell.
Some Hindus are vegan, vegetarian or omnivore, though none eat beef. (Cow's milk products are held in high esteem, though.)

No Hindu ever told so. Everyone knows it is the vedas and a few more but 9/10 people would not have read it or even know what is in it.

Next time someone asks me if I know Jeebus I'll tell them that I follow the Divine Teachings of Kyososama. Wow. I should look that up just so I can ramble on about it in a Devil's Advocate kind of way.

Thanks for the list - 5 books on Hinduism lol. The link is pulled out of krishna.org and doesn't reference to any legit census. Most Hindus in India do have a copy of Gita but no one reads it like Christians do every sunday except for Brahmins and remember phrases. I guess you are right in a way none of them are Actually Hindus. Is it a must to follow these scriptures?
