Apparently the WBC may be at it again:

I am afraid if the WBC does try to picket, they will get more than they bargained for.  I think it's safe to say that Bostonians will just plain not allow it.  I like to think Bostonians will respond peacefully, with strength and solidarity.  After all, however, this is Boston.  (I live just over an hour outside of Boston).  This area is much more diverse since that April morning in 1775, but there is still a spirit of cohesion in the face of a common enemy.  People here are incredibly angry and ready to protect anyone else from being hurt.

What I can tell you is that I want to be there if the WBC assholes are going.  I am not even from Boston, but I so completely detest the thought of any grieving family member having to ever see their hateful signs, I would be happy to stand in front of them myself.  Bastards.  I'm in tears just thinking about the collective wounded in Boston having to deal with the WBC.  Not HERE.
If I feel this way, imagine how every Boston police officer feels at not having been able to protect that 8 year old boy who died, the two others who died, and the almost 200 injured people.  I imagine the Patriot Guard will be ready to make sure nobody has to deal with the WBC's vileness.  Still, there is the 1st amendment and the WBC has the right to protest.  As much as I hope no more violence happens, they should be afraid for their safety if they go ahead with it.

Bostonians can certainly be pig-headed, but they can also be wonderful.  They drive like they're out of their minds but that is certainly not unique to them.

My son and I were trying to find the right train at one of the T stations, and my son began to cry because he thought we were lost.  A guy came up to us with his fantastic Boston accent and helped us find the right train.  He didn't just walk on by after seeing another human in distress, albeit minor.

Another time, my daughter and I were lost during our daring mission to get from Boston Eye and Ear Infirmary to St. Elizabeth Hospital.  We were so lost we ended up at Harvard.  We asked a police officer, who was quite amused at how far off we were.  I was more interested in listening to him talk than actually listening to what he said that I didn't really get any good idea of which way to go.  My daughter listened though, and we made it there alright.  It was a pretty tense time because she had to see two specialists and have a rather unpleasant procedure done.  That cop really saved the day.

Btw, whoever designed Boston must have been drinking way too much ale.  It doesn't make any sense!

I agree with you about the not being surprised if someone got punched though.  They're passionate people, and they've had enough.

It wasn't designed, it just growed, like many European towns of that time.

I think it's an Irish thing. We're a friendly lot.

Funny... god hates cigarette marriage... nice huh. Such bigots! It's so sickening that people can actually be this stupid! Not ignorant, because ignorant can be taught... but there is absolutely no cure for stupid.

You know, it actually took me a second to realise your cigarette comment was a pun on "fags" which is what we Brits call cigarettes.  Bloody hell, I'm becoming 'mericanized! Hayulp!!

I used to do doubletakes in chat on another board when this one particular English woman would say "I am going to go have a fag."  I knew what she meant but how many fellow yanks would be thrown by that and want to a) condemn her for using the word and b) inform her that "fags" just don't swing that way?

Believe me, I deal with Massholes every weekend.  They come up here to go to the White Mountains or Lake Winnepesauke and drive obnoxiously.  We do love their tourism money though. .

It is only a matter of time before someone does a drive-by on the WBC clowns.

What I find surprising is that it hasn't happened yet.

Well if anyone is going to shoot them It'll be a believer and the WBC have all the believers on their side. So their safe.

Thats what i think anyway,

Two of my favorites.

Thus is one instance where I expect the WBC loonies to back down and stay home.  It's one thing for them to picket amidst war veterans or outlaw bikers; it's quite another for them to put their lives at the mercy of of angry Bostonians.
