*ulp* Just made my first openly atheist FB status post

Axial tilt is the reason for the season! A wonderful Christmas to everyone... may your holidays be filled with the love & joy of family & friends (and just a dash of irritation, 'cause hey, that's what family is for! :) )

We'll see how long it takes for my Catholic extended family to pick up on the axial tilt crack. I figure that's a little less antagonistic than "Reason's Greetings" or such. And I'm really looking forward to seeing how offended my sister & parents get at the irritation joke. I'll let y'all know how it pans out :)

Congrats on your first!

I sometimes wonder how many of my FB "friends" hide my status updates due to this.
I think it is funny how overtly Christians display their faith and how sensitive they are to anything that contradicts it. One guest at my very secular wedding was offended that God wasn't mentioned! So, at least a few people will be offended that you are suggesting that the reason for the season is something other than sweet baby Jesus in a manger.
Not a single response so far. I'm disappointed :P
Maybe you were too subtle.
They're probably still pretty sure that you'll eventually come around! Theists, by definition, don't appreciate beliefs that are based upon critical analysis. I think that they are, therefore, a different species (even when they are family).
