I'm a big fan of science and technology as well as humans. I like the transhumanist movement and was just wondering what your thoughts and feelings are about it?
Please stay on topic and don't obsessively talk about how religion is mostly anti-human etc. I already know that. :P
I'm more interested in how humanity can be better, have more enjoyable lives and evolve in positive ways. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumanism
Thanks and I look forward to your ideas and perspectives. :)

This video is partially in response to TAA when she said she hopes transhumanism might be able to genetically alter humans so they don't abuse power or act corruptly anymore. Humans are already breeding in ways that the less agressive ones prosper and the predators die in fights etc. or go to jail and can't breed anymore usually. Mostly I like this video just for the cool looking foxes. hahaha :)
Permalink Reply by T A A on November 21, 2012 at 2:51am I beg to differ, we are a more violent species than ever before. Violence is not just death, violence is power vs underlings, and this is growing faster and faster in humans. There are of course those who answer that Africans are better fed than ever, and that the poor are less poor than before... but that's patently false. Africans now eat technologically produced nutritiously inferior maize, because it suits the first world. And right here in the first world, robotisation has reduced the number of work hours available, yet there are more people fighting for the same jobs, for more years, think 60 yrs of job hunting instead of 30 yrs of job hunting. Right here in the first world, the buying power of our dollar is less and less, 2 incomes have a hard time raising a family whereas one used to suffice. Pregnancy births are rising, obesity, ADHD, Asperger, allergies, asthma, cancer, all diseases on the rise, as a species. The number one cause of deaths in hospitals is super bugs, created by... technology. We live longer but at the cost of being the unhealthiest in many generations.
THAT is today's violence, enslavement to medication and police forces.
Permalink Reply by Nate Lundgren on November 21, 2012 at 11:26am Melodramatic much? Where do you live that is this bad?
Permalink Reply by T A A on November 21, 2012 at 11:48pm I guess we don't live on the same planet. The is no melodrama in that post, it is strictly fact. 30 years ago violence in schools was considered a ruler or strap, today violence is school is as little as giving someone the evil eye, or correcting them... violence is entirely relative, it is never eliminated, it just changes appearances.
Permalink Reply by James Cox on November 21, 2012 at 7:22pm There is an old question that might be important,' if you had THE POWER, why would you be moral/ethical?'
Permalink Reply by T A A on November 21, 2012 at 11:05pm I don't think it has ever truly existed, nor that's possible.
Permalink Reply by Ryan B on November 22, 2012 at 12:52am We see the world very similarly so you are not alone TAA. The world is not in a good place right now and I don't see much hope for sweeping changes.
Permalink Reply by T A A on November 20, 2012 at 7:44pm Ah, great, only positivity is acceptable here. Sorry, but life is not about blind positivism, it is a balance, we must look at all sides of an issue to understand it. As humans, we've looked at only one side for the past 2K years, growth and success of us, gods made in our image, now someone is changing the image again like us, oops sorry, it is us. sigh. I get tired of species belly-button gazing.
And no, this is not a new topic, it's been done a bunch of times before. And to have people tell me to shut up because I mention the negative aspects, to conteract all the people pushing the positive aspects, well, makes me want to continue on to contribute to a balanced view instead of a one sided view.

Someone told you to "shut up"? Are you sure? Who around here uses that kind of language?
