After a long time away I've recently decided to step back into nonreligious social networking and see how the community is transforming.

My name is George. I am an Alabamian.

I perform stand up comedy around the southeastern U.S. and am never afraid to take a poke fun at my religious neighbors.

I've recently had trouble dealing with a deeply religious ex-employer who, because it is Alabama and it is completely legal to do so, denied my unemployment compensation with no reason given.

Anyhow, I'm proud to be here and I've missed networking with other skeptics and unbelievers.

I'm highly political but have a tough time pinning my political beliefs onto the proverbial donkey. I'm mostly progressive, though, so I'll leave it at that.

I understand the Alabamian atheist pains. I am one myself. It always sucks. I got denied a job because I wasn't an avid churchgoer. I'd love to have seen her face if she had known I'm an atheist.
