HA! This thread reminded me of a bit from a comedian I saw a while back. Probably NSFW language warning, but his similar observation on the opinion that gay men aren't manly cracked me up.

I have seen more gay porn than any mostly straightish woman should. I was at a red carpet event for the Colt Entertainment guys after one of their premiers (don't ask) and I will tell you with 100% accuracy there was nothing ' unmanly' about any of these guys.
Actually, I think the production in question was titled "Taking it like a man" Gay does not equal emasculated.
Gay porn does not have to have a person being dominated. That is simply a stereotype meant to sooth homophobic fears.

The reason two males "getting jiggy" isn't as popular is based on the audience viewing.
Generally speaking the audience would be:
Gay men, bisexual men=two guys
Straight men, bisexual men, straight women, bi-sexual women, lesbians=two women

Why? Imagery vs. emotion. Sex is never (or rarely, anyway) black and white, but this is the broad overview:

Men predominately excited by images of females would be turned on by two women. Women predominately excited by the emotional ties would not find gay (men) porn that exciting because (I'm not sure how much you've watched) it isn't common to have "love making scenes", so much as raw sex. I'm also sure it would be more difficult to be swept into that fantasy has one of the partners, if they're both men (just a thought).

Super cool.  I've always known that there was less 'taboo' about 2 women than 2 men being together but I never had a basis for evaluating why.  Thank you.

Oddly enough, gay anime and manga are predominantly purchased by tween and teenaged girls..

Is watching porn really as widespread as everyone says it is? Because of my former beliefs, I actually withheld from watching it until just recently on occasion. Is porn as much a hot topic among atheists as it is for religious people?

It's been my experience that viewing pornography is generally only limited by religious beliefs and the decisions between you and your parter. If you're not religious (and praise god if you're not), then you only need to be concerned with your partners point of view on the subject. Of course, being careful not to fall into the addiction realm of viewing which seems to have taken over some of our culture. All in all, there isn't really anything wrong with it, so long as you treat it like any other activity you enjoy--moderation.
That said, it is obviously still a taboo conversation for public discussion. It's not really water-cooler chatter. Anymore than discussing your sex life in general is.

Although--with thousands of Atheists congregated here--I'd be curious if others have some other moral opposition to the concept.

I would say it's fairly common even, or especially, amongst the religious.  I remember reading that there was a study showing a much higher usage of porn amongst the religious.  I didn't google for research on the number of people who watch it, however.
