Universe A - There is a God who intervenes and answers prayers. The harder you pray, the greater is the probability that it will come true.
Universe B - Our universe. Prayer has no empirically provable effect.
Which universe would you rather live in?

Even if god is a very kind being, intervention by its very nature, demands that humans are treated at a sub-par level. In an universe were prayers are answered immediately, civilizations would disintegrate soon or will never develop because nobody will be self-reliant.
Can you explain this quote better? I don't quite understand it.
I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.
-Frederick Douglas
I imagine Universe A's God as being entirely neutral. Given that, I can imagine people waging wars through prayer, each side trying to out pray the other until God smote the losers. Greater conviction = Winning!
