There is no such thing as consensus science. If it's consensus, it isn't science. If it's science, it isn't consensus: Period.

"Aliens Cause Global Warming” is a rather interesting speech given by Michael Crichton which may have you thinking hard about your opinions on such things as global warming and the danger of secondhand smoke.

We often base our own views on controversial subjects on our understanding of what most experts think, but this sort of reasoning is fallacious, even if we don't have a real alternative.

Thorium has enormous potential, but still has some significant technological challenges to overcome in addition to the general NIMBY issues associated with nuclear reactors bound to occur.

The general consensus is that the US is about to progress away from the oil age which started around 50 years ago, supplanting the coal age, and into the gas age.

India's doing good work with Thorium reactors at present.

I tried starting a discussion, Unseen, involving a video I found, but the published page wouldn't accept the embed code - I've never had that problem before, there must be come kind of coding conflict.

At any rate, I wouldn't want you to miss it, as it's right up your alley --

My sides are still aching.

That's probably just the rumatiz --

I thought you'd like it - why don't you see if you can embed it into a discussion (possibly I did something wro, wro, wro, not entirely correct), then I'll delete mine. After all, you know how much you like to see your name in print --

What do you mean "what money"? I was specifically talking about oil subsidies.  Are you saying that the Republicans would deny that the government is giving any subsidies to the oil companies?  So far I've never heard a candidate deny that we are pumping money into the oil companies pockets.  If so, they are delusional (as we well know from their religiosity) and desperately need to be voted out of office because the ones that ask this question are either morons, bald-faced liars.

But you are probably right in that people are far too stupid to get people in elected offices that actually give a shit about the people they are supposed to represent.  It's all about who talks the best talk, not who walks the best walk.  Now-a-days it's about who is the most religious and who is willing to stand up for the poor, downtrodden, suppressed religious majority, not who will make this a better country.  If people cared about integrity in any way, Romney would be working in a bank, not the Republican nominee for president.

Out of curiosity, why did you specifically pick out the "cutting energy" piece to debate as if that were the greater theme of my comment and ignore everything else?  Granted that was the first thing on the list at the end of the paragraph, but did you really think I intended that to be the highest priority?

You're probably right about the "what money" thing.

I jumped on the "cutting energy" piece because it was the most interesting thing to me, I guess. I'm not sure I want to go back and figure out my motivation, at that time as I'm having a hard time keeping up with the new posts as it is. LOL

Hey Keith, I'm with ya, and I'm ready to do my part to build a viable, self-sustaining electric car as soon as I can find a trustworthy electrical engineer who can help me with the mechanics --

Cool!  My first project is going to be an electric motorcycle with a trailer that contains enough batteries to extend the range to over 100 miles.  I rarely drive more than that per day, so I think that is a good project to get started with.  Hopefully soon they will have batteries that will make an electric car with a range of over 100 miles viable soon.

Cooler than you think - I believe I can eliminate the need for a battery bank, if I can find someone reliable to work with.

It doesn't involve hamsters and a superheated hamster wheel does it?

That would be awesome.  Wish I were an electrical engineer. I'd volunteer my services.  :)
