Today I was doing something online, (I really don't remember how it started i think from here) and I saw something about god hating shrimp. I thought that was pretty funny so I went to the website just for fun. It pokes fun at extremists by saying "why stop at protesting gays? shellfish is a sin too!!!" It is just a joke website with a bit of a message about how ridiculous extremists can be.
As I look into the website a little I found one called Godhatesfags.com. Again, I thought it was a joke website. Its not. I first thought this because it seems kinda silly right? To say something that offensive and uneducated. And on it was a little box with a label stating: # of people that god has sent to hell since you have been on this website. This really seemed rediculous to me so I started looking for a place where it would say that it is a joke website. It never did.
So I guess its real? Is it? I did not look too closely because I really don't want to be right. When I started thinking it might be real, I was not thinking about how ridiculous it is and how weird extremists are. Th e message of pure hate that the WBC is sending out made me almost want to cry. I am an atheist and therefore 'dammed to hell' and when people tell me that I am likely to engage in a debate but reading this, I could not feel any other feeling of disappointment. Disappointment within people.
Does anyone else feel this way? I just want to see your reactions to this, and want to know what you think.

They no longer understand peace.
I will always strive to make their lives as difficult as I can.
It's the xtian thing to do.
Personally, I would wipe my ass with their tacky litle saviour.

However I have much better things to do with my life other than trying to fuck with a disillusioned person who is beyond help of learning to think..
I would rather smile and be happy and let them be them be alone in their own little world.

I have no complaints. To care, I would have to initially care about xtians. I do not. Never have. Given half the chance, I would put piss in their holy water. Why should they get away with anything?

There is no doubt about that. There is also no doubt that they deserve more than a little moral disapproval and some hatred. If you want to put them in their place effectively, however, you have to remember where their values lie. The only thing they really value is "looking good", i.e., making a good impression on others.
Keep that in mind when choosing both your conduct and your words and you will be a very effective agent against their pernicious influence. By that I don't mean tell them that they look bad in your eyes. They don't care what we think. Instead, make them see how bad they look to everyone who is remotely objective. To do this well, you have to retain your moral and emotional superiority.
If you want to express your hatred, keep it philosophical, rational, academic--psychologically clinical. There is more than enough material in the things they say, do, and think to achieve that and it's much more effective.

Still, I live in SF, where we atheists seem to be in the majority these days. Churches sit empty and would be put to better use to house the homeless, many of which are the recent homeless. Entire families, in varying states of disorientation, are setting up tents tonight in Golden Gate Park.
Do churches practice that shit they preach? I think not.

Problematically, Fred Phelps is a disbarred lawyer. The WBC will always toe the line down to the letter of the law. While I have an appreciation for the problems with enacting legislation against this sort of behavior, I don't consider it a free speech issue. They should be free to express whatever opinions and ideas they wish. Really, it's the method much more than the message that is the problem. Such behavior is, unequivocally, harassment. It is, unequivocally, harmful to other American citizens.
