The Undead by Dick Teresi

I am wondering what the folks here think of the book "The Undead" by Dick Teresi. It discusses the technical medical interpetation of when death actually occurs and the ethical questions surrounding organ transplant procedures.Of particular interest is the donor cadaver's apparent reaction to pain in the form of increased blood pressure and heart rate.Are these bodies actually experiencing pain? It is suggested that giving anaesthetics to beating heart cadavers may infer that they aren't really dead. He also states 35% of doctors and nurses harvesting organs from donors felt the cadavers wern't really dead.Below are interviews by the New York Times and MacLeans Magazine in Canada.
