There was no other way it could have happened because at that time non-religious people were BURNED AT THE STAKE.  Yeah, very enlightened you Christians.

I think you are delusional.  You choose your "facts" based on how they make you feel.  The same way you choose your theology.  Atheists were burned at the stake.  Even disagreeing over trivial points of doctrine such as the trinity could get a person burned at the stake.  Wake up and smell the coffee.

Name just a couple of the atheists who were burnt at the stake.

Catholicism or Protestantism did not care about atheism at all. I can name scientists, Catholics/Protestants and Anabaptists who were all burnt at the stake or drowned (Christians who believed in baptism by immersion were often drowned).

Here is a link to a video of a very recent incident in Kenya where some of you lovely Christians burned 5 old people alive for witchcraft.

Your argument is silly.

Instead of using Religion lets use ethics.

 

Abortion. I am not pro choice or pro life, but if I had to fit into one of these categories I would be pro life.

 

Some pro life people in America think it is acceptable to kill abortion doctors.

Does that mean that all pro life people kill abortion doctors?

 

What you are doing is attempting to show how evil religion is and forgetting the fact that 99% of religious people are peaceful.

Most of them don't burn people alive anymore, but that is not the same thing as being "peaceful".  I have had quite a lot of experience with you lovely "Christians".  You are a bunch of narcissistic psychopaths, just like the god you worship.

Pol Pot was motivated by a religion:  Communism.

 

Religion is any irrational belief system the primary purpose of which is to cater to the emotional needs of its adherents.

Sounds like you have a double standards. If I was to say that about well anything where religious people did something bad, you and other atheists would not let me off the hook.
Remember if atheists had their way, Western Europe and other advanced countries would of been communist countries. Thank God

You know, Adam, your attitude toward Christianity seems to be that most of the other Christians have it wrong but that you know better and have it right.  I hate to tell you this, but YOU are the first one they would have burned at the stake. 

The word heresy derives from the greek word for choosing, i.e., choosing to think for yourself.  You have chosen to think for yourself about what Christ said and what Christianity is.  You are a heretic.  Don't forget to bring some marshmallows.
