Learning about the Universe can be great, but sometimes just looking at the pictures is enough to inspire you with a sense of awe. Post the wonderful images of the Universe that you run across here. If you don't have anything to add right now, select 'follow' anyway so you can be informed of new posts. I just can't get enough of this stuff.

Look into the Total perspective vortex!
Is this what you mean?

Oh, the universe is much bigger, and we are much smaller: inconceivably so!
I just can't get enough of this stuff.

Then have a look at WikiSky, but don't get lost! I know I could spend hours here without noticing it.
You gave me a woody.

Gorgeous. Thanks. Never seen this one.

And, of course, the Hubble Ultra-Deep Field. If you held up a grain of sand between your fingers and stretched your arm out, the piece of sky covered by that grain of sand is larger than that shown in this picture. They pointed the Hubble at an "empty" section of the sky and took a time-exposure for days. This is what developed. Virtually every speck and dot that's visible is a separate galaxy. Now imagine how many galaxies would be revealed in the incredible number of sand-grain-sized photographs of the entire sky!
Awesome! Mind-boggling!
