After almost a lifetime of wrangling with the idea of whether or not there existed some kind of a "magical" being i'm very happy and content in my personal conclusion that there is not! I read other peoples thoughts and arguments about the subject but for me it is all moot. its a personal decision each person makes or doesn't on their own However i'd like to ask anyone who may know, how does an Atheist like me acknowledge someone when they sneeze?

like the hitch "excuse me" we tend to say in Britain, for sneezes, belching or passing wind when there's a noise that sometimes can occupy them when in company.
Good point.
Exactly!why would you say anything if there was no-one there,I thought that was the point of question.tuts
Gesundheit! or nothing...after all we do not say anything when someone coughs or expels methane.
I would have to agree with everyone else, "Gesundheit" would be your best option. Or you could create something new and see if it catches on! Haha since I can remember, I've always said "Gesundheit".
The French courtesy for when a person sneezes is "Sante" (with an accent egu on the e, pronounced sawn-tay), which means health. I've taken to using it.

Gesundheit, salud, sante, prosit.

Or 'possess you' if it's a religious person sneezing. ;)

My grandparents were German so when I was little I always heard them say gesundheit. Which I picked up and have used ever since.
