The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? (author unknown)

"We must remember that 'good' and 'evil' are terms so wide as to take in the whole scheme of creation" -- Bram Stoker

When did I realize I was God?
Well, I was praying, and noticed that I was talking to myself. (author unknown)

It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets. (Voltaire)

While I agree that stupidity should be painful (to discourage future acts of stupidity), and that warning/safety labels have gotten out of hand (such as a warning label on a hammer that hitting your fingers is not recommended and may cause injury), basic safety information is valuable.

What we really need is to remove the systems that encourage stupidity. Do something stupid? Don't expect to be able to sue someone over it. The courts should just throw out such cases with a 'What were you thinking? Now pay the court costs of the person you tried to sue for not clearly stating that using a hair dryer in the swimming pool was a bad idea.'

Being too lazy to think for yourself should be a social stigma. Students do not 'deserve' a passing grade just for showing up to class. Learn or fail. Want to know something? Research it. Hell, Google can get you information on just about anything in a few minutes at most.
I completely agree. Things are to easy! I do kinda like watching the person with the hammer after they hit their thumb. Hopping around on one foot, cursing, thinking maybe if I put it in my mouth it will feel better. But then again. I have done it LMAO!
Yes suing someone should not take so little. I do a load of studying mainly to just learn even though im not in school for anything at the moment.
I do want to know what im getting into when I do go to college for paleontology. I dont know what I would do with out google!

Whilst removing safety labels would allow natural selection to remove the stupid from the gene pool, we do need to have a 'common sense' law in place first. Our education system needs to be overhauled as well. An educated populous with common sense would go a long way toward improving America and our view in the world.
Common knowledge has been far and few.
awesome suggestion...unfortunately the ones who don't die instantly will hire lawyers and then we all go broke :-(

still, I'd like to see the evidence for why my new curling iron said "do not insert into any orifice"
Do you *really* want to know where someone stuck their curling iron? The warning label wouldn't be there unless someone had done something stupid and tried to sue to company over it.
I unfortunately had to hear a story about a friend who had a dumb girlfriend who thought lets plug in the curling iron and use it to masturbate.

she had such bad burns they had to treat her for weeks just so she could have sex again.

all i said was..WHY!!! OMG WHY!!
It was horrific sitting and hearing it trust me. I'm sure she wasn't the only one who did it either.
I'm pretty sure that was a George Carlin quote, was it not?
im not very sure. i love these quotes. i have many others but there are no names to them.
so i would have to do some research to find out who said them.

here is the site.
i looked but couldn't find the author. i will post it if i do. for now i just let people know that the author is unknown.
although in my search i found some by Voltaire LOL
