Should there be laws that are based on certain morals?

  • In its "descriptive" sense, morality refers to personal or cultural values, codes of conduct or social mores that distinguish between right and wrong in the human society. Describing morality in this way is not making a claim about what is objectively right or wrong, but only referring to what is considered right or wrong by an individual or some group of people(such as a religion).

What is the alternative?
Oh. I thought you were being serious.
Actually I am... That wasn't directed at you. It was meant to be toward the public... Minding other peoples business..

I apologize for misinterpreting it.

I guess to answer your question, I'd have to pose a question first; which morals?

It might come across as a good idea in theory, but to permit laws to be passed on the basis of moral standings can open the door to dangerous ideals becoming written law.

But there are already laws on the books like that...prostitution for one..

Morals that are sexual in nature, I guess...

I'm not talking about stealing... Thieves belong in jail, as far as I'm concerned...
