Poor Planning on God's Part?
I have a thought that I would like for ThinkAtheist members to consider. In the 21st century we now have video and camera technology, internet, email, youtube, and all the other higher communication capabilities. If God was going to send his only begotten son to die for our sins and he clearly wants everyone in the world to know about it, would it not have made more sense to send his son during today's time instead of during a time where the predominant communication capability was oral and handwritten and therefore prone to error? Surely he could have waited for a time where his son's message would have reached a lot more people with less distortion and doubt. Do you think this is valid argument to use against Christians? I am not sure if this idea has been mentioned before.

I don't know.
We live in an era where we've seen all sorts of once unimaginable feats quite realistically faked with the aid of technology and trickery. We live in an era where people can accept that many phenomena cannot currently be explained, yet also have confidence that a logical and natural explanation will someday be found. Nowadays we tend to see someone perform a miraculous feat and then applaud for the neat magic trick. Hell: I bet even Chris Angel could have passed for a pretty convincing Jesus back in the day.
Once we filter out the desperate folk who see their beloved deities manifested in toasted bread, the rest of us might just be too blasé for a modern Jesus. He'd have to be pretty damn spectacular.

Good point. We do see what we called magical feats but take for instance the resurrection of jesus. I doubt if the story is true that even a skeptic would doubt his death and resurrection if everything had been video taped and an autopsy done. Arguably if we had seen video footage of him dying and could verify that he was actually dead by autopsy. and yet rose 3 days later, that would give even skeptic belief. Also if jesus had lived during today's time and claimed he was born of a virgin, surely that would be reflected in hid DNA or something. Or even footage of him raising someone who science shows that the surely had been dead and had been dead for some time then that too might cast belief on even a skeptic. I don't know but has there been verified footage of someone raising the dead or dying and rising 3 days later. I mean the walking on water and turning water in wine might not convince us but dying on a cross and even being stabbed might convince more people with footage I think. Not to mention we would be able to verify through autopsy that Jesus was indeed dead.

And to that point. I think there was also so-called other messiahs during ancient times as well and somehow jesus passed them all in terms of popularity.

You have to keep in mind that jesus was made popular only because the "church" had alterior motives. They wanted to rule. Because of their ruling things like the dark ages happened. and as mentioned in another discussion, the salam witch trials and so on. It's all about who's on top. ( I think) The gods such as zeus ruled for quite some time (someone correct me if I'm wrong please).

I was simply saying presumably if the god in human form guy was born of a virgin and thus only got his mother's DNA (for surely if god exists he must not have DNA) then Jesus must have had funky DNA. We would have been able to study it to see if he was who he claimed to be. That is before he died and so-called rose from the dead. In other words, Jesus must have been a organic being before he died. And this is assuming Jesus existed and was divine as Christians believe. Of course I don't believe that to be the case but the Christians I talk to certainly do. All of this hypothetical.

I was rushing. i am saying that Jesús have been an organic being before he died and therefore had he come first during our time, we may have been able to find out Whether or not he was born with no sperm or born from a virgin.

The spelling was correct. The excessive combination of reason and superstition burned my eyes. They do not mix well. All those matters are just plainly absurd.
Virgin birth, resurrection are not too fond with DNA, autopsy, etc.
Absurdities can be discarded without a meticulous analysis. It's like trying to find water in desert stones.
I appreciate the points you make. They are painfully obvious. The sad part is that most people are viewing them as "from the devil". I hate how people are not allowed to touch "holy" things.
