Arguments, that convince you, strong atheism is true. If you are not a strong atheist, but a weak one, don't argue with this question. its not for you. Its for the ones, that positively assert, most probably God does not exist. Please don't base it on a negative ( the bible is worthless etc....), but positive arguments, which do make strong atheism stand on its own right.

Permalink Reply by archaeopteryx on January 17, 2012 at 7:50pm Steve, the days of a minister being, "called" to preach, are long gone. To be hired by any church, a minister has to have credentials, which require a formal, religious training, and I'm sure james d will back me up.
Every minister, who holds any kind of degree in theology - sorry, read legitimate degree in theology - already knows everything I've mentioned here on the board about the Yahwist, Priestly, Eloist and Deuteronomical Sources of the Pentateuch, the "According to Moses" books, as well as the Redactor who edited them.
He knows that there is no evidence for a global flood, no historical mention in Egypt of Moses leading away half the population of the country and that the laws Moses received corresponded to the Babylonian Code of Hammurabi, that the cities Joshua destroyed had fallen centuries before the mythical Joshua ever got there, that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John didn't write the Gospels of "Matthew," "Mark," Luke" and "John," and that several of the epistles of Paul were written by someone else who forged Paul's name - he already knows all of that, yet you, nor any of his congregation will ever hear of it from him.
How much chance do you think any of the rest of us would have, getting permission to address such an audience?
But if they EVER start teaching Creationism in public schools, to me, that would seem to open the door for lay people to teach evolution and REAL biblical scholarship in church!

If your ONLY goal is, to attack me, you waste your time.

Permalink Reply by Artor on January 17, 2012 at 7:57pm After all this time posting on TA, you still haven't gotten it in your head what distinguishes a scientific theory? Are you actually brain-damaged and physically unable to learn new facts? You can't possibly be as dumb as you pretend to be, and still type your name. I don't mean to be insulting, but I'm really bewildered that you can still cling to your ignorant misconceptions after all the information that's been offered to you.
Evolutionary theory, if I may repeat for the 487th time, is one of the best-supported theories in all of science. There are mountains of clear, incontrovertible evidence backing it up, much of which has been referenced in this very thread. The only controversy surrounding it is from ignorant theists who refuse to accept factual evidence when it is presented by the truckload.
Yes, it is an interpretation, but it is the only one that makes sense when you consider the data, and it makes alot of sense. It's fascinating, and explains things about the world every single day. It's a lie that we can't see evolution happening, as it goes on every day, and can be easily seen in things like drug-resistant pathogens, Roundup-resistant super-weeds, and white moths in the Black Forest. If you can't understand that, it's not a failure in the theory, it's a failure in your comprehension, which I'm pretty sure is deliberate.
Evolution doesn't explain everything, and scientists keep finding new details, that sometimes refute what we thought we knew. This doesn't invalidate the theory; the new information is added to the body of evidence, and the details are reworked to accommodate the new understanding, making the theory fit better than before. In this way, we can learn alot about the world. As soon as you say "Goddidit," learning stops.

our offerings are falling on prejudiced ears and being ignored, which, is to be expected from a person who came here ONLY to preach and promote his website of flawed theistic arguments that 'prove' god exists philosophically, though he refuses to answer the teapot theory i offered him yet.. as i know he can't offer any valid rebuttal to it's very simple premise, but can be rejected by ignorance.
cheers!
