Arguments, that convince you, strong atheism is true. If you are not a strong atheist, but a weak one, don't argue with this question. its not for you. Its for the ones, that positively assert, most probably God does not exist. Please don't base it on a negative ( the bible is worthless etc....), but positive arguments, which do make strong atheism stand on its own right.

So why are we bothering?

i did not say , i do not stick to proofs. i said, gods existence or non existence cannot be proven, therefore to ask for proofs is irrelevant, and will not bring us closer to the truth, to what is above the courtin, which we cannot penetrate. ones again. the right philosophical question to ask , is.
how can we best explain our existence ?
so far, in my view, strong atheism has miserably failed to present consistent arguments to back up the claim, that God most probably does not exist.

THOSE WERE YOUR EXACT WORDS!!!!! I took them directly from your post! Even "bob & weave" won't fly in this case!

Permalink Reply by archaeopteryx on January 19, 2012 at 6:40pm Speaking of baseless drivel, reading your post I coudn't help noticing, ElSchamuck66: "because we do have strong philosophical reasons to believe so."
As Shakespeare so aptly put it, "Aye, there's the rub."
Quick question - if your god exists, and created the universe (which by your own supposition, cannot arise from nothing), exactly what material did he use to make it and where did he get it? Is there a Heavenly Home Depot the Bible hasn't told us about?

since there was nothing physical beyond the big bang, certainly he created everything out of nothing physical, through his power and will.
Permalink Reply by archaeopteryx on January 19, 2012 at 8:07pm OOOOH! HOLD THE PHONE Brangalina - you said "Nothing can be created from nothing." But your god created the universe from NOTHING?!!!!
Oh, "through his power and will," I almost forgot (it was so forgettable) - and this power is, what, energy? That can neither be created nor destroyed? And then there's his will - what attorney did he use to draw that up?
Just kidding, El Schamuck666 - give us a quick explanation of the physics behind that "will," if you will. (I really don't think Bozo the Clown - sorry, William Lane Craig can help you here.)
