Arguments, that convince you, strong atheism is true. If you are not a strong atheist, but a weak one, don't argue with this question. its not for you. Its for the ones, that positively assert, most probably God does not exist. Please don't base it on a negative ( the bible is worthless etc....), but positive arguments, which do make strong atheism stand on its own right.

Permalink Reply by Scott A. Hunt on December 26, 2011 at 2:44pm I'm still hopeful. Atheism grows every year. I'd even be happy with just a bunch of deists so long as they aren't pushing their beliefs on the rest of us.

So do all kind of religions. So what ?
Permalink Reply by Teri G on December 27, 2011 at 3:09am Atheism is growing a lot faster.. It is now the 3rd biggest religious (really non-religious) group, where it used to be next to non-existant.

Don't forget peer pressure, that plays an incredibly significant part.

Permalink Reply by Jason Paisley on December 26, 2011 at 10:53am My best argument for strong atheism is this simple argument against strong belief. I have come across many Christians for example who claim that Christianity isn't just a belief. They say it is the truth, it is presented as fact so i offer this..
"Faith does not equal knowing. Faith equals believing. It's paradoxical to say you accept the bible on faith which is a belief despite evidence yet say you know it to be the truth. To know something as fact requires that you have strong evidence and the Bible simply does not fit the bill as strong evidence. It cannot be tested as such nor do many of it's claims stand up to what we actually do know via hard evidence and hard fought knowledge. To say the bible is truth is to ignore it's many mistakes or deny them or to claim they too are fact or you must accept the fact that this little book is not ultimate truth."
I put that in quotes because i came up with it and am posting it in a blog i do about being atheist in the Southeastern United States.

So what hard evidence is that convinces you, the universe for example does not need a cause, or that it exists by its own forever ?
Permalink Reply by erik112358 on December 27, 2011 at 8:22am Within the context of true strong atheism, the "evidence" would be a complete lack of positive evidence to support the existence of any god. The possibility that a god exists is so unlikely, it might as well be dismissed in the same way we dismiss the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or a teacup in orbit around Mars.
